Because people are close minded. How can you say the Bible's true with NO facts, but evolution with science and evidence to back it up ? People need to educate themselves before they open their mouths !

Why don't people believe in evolution? Evolution takes millions of years to make the complexity and diversity that we see today. Some people make the assumption, based on a literal interpretation of the bible, that the earth is only about 6,000 years old. These people don't believe in evolution because in their world view there is not enough time. People are against evolution because it is a threat to their assumptions about how the bible is interpreted. It is a circular argument to support their disbelief in evolution.
By the same token if evolution is true it makes the Adam and Eve story more real. Science gives them a context in history and answers the questions where the bible is silent. By answering some of the more distracting questions it allows the story to focus on the important religious questions.
People who stand on their bibles stand so high. People who stand on the scientific manuscripts based on evolution stand higher. People who stand on both the bible and scientific books stand the highest.

These two thing fundamentally disagree. You can't believe that God created the world in 7 days, and believe in the theory of evolution. You further can't use bible verse as an instrument of proof in one breath, and turn around and twist it to suit your agrument later. Example, god created the world in 7 days, but 1 day to god is like a thousand years. You can't take some parts literally and discard others when they don't suit your position. Can you imagine how science would be attacked if they argued a point the way creationist do, and just made **** up as they went without any proof of anything?

Humans did not evolve from monkeys/apes but from a common ancestor. Even if they did, it would not falsify evolution. It is similar to asking "If Christians came from Jews, why are there still Jews?"
Why do creationists insist on taking Genesis literally, while claiming that so many other parts of the Bible are metaphorical? Who decides which parts of the Bible should be taken literally and which part of the Bible should be taken metaphorically?
Brian J:
Evolution does NOT say that a dog will ever give birth to a cat. If it ever happens, that would prove evolution to be false.

It is simple. With evolution, Adam and Eve do not exist as explained in the Bible.
Without Adam and Eve there would be no original sin.. Without original sin, Jesus would have served what purpose? See, it is quite simple. Evolution proves without doubt that the Bible as a literal guide is flawed.
If the Bible is flawed then, so is the concept of God.

Being a Bible believing person who accepts modern Biology is kind of like being an evolutionist without accepting natural selection. The two things are just flat out incompatible.

I can't explain it to you. My parents were both Christians and easily accepted the fact of evolution. My father used the old Galilleo quote about "God gave us brains, let's use them" quite often.
Fear, maybe or arrogance?
You might enjoy the site www.theistic-evolution.com where a devout Christian who also accepts evolution tries to reconcile faith with facts.

I'm an agnostic when it come to evolution. The question of whether evolution is true or false has never been very impartant to me. I was more concerned with questions such as faith, humility of Jesus, historical impact of faith, beauty of human mind, philosophy of brilliant men.... Question of evolution rank pretty far down the list. Regardless of this validity of the theory, it really isn't very impartant in overall scope of the faith and God.
