In the broadest sense of the word Jesus was a Muslim because the word Muslim simply means 'one who submits to God'. Jesus certainly submitted to God and perhaps uniquely could ask 'who accuses me of sin?' and silence all his critics. In fact the world Islam simply means 'submission'.

What say YOU?

Fine by me. In his day, he was a Jew. My Baha'i friend tells me I am already a Baha'i and so is the world, but I just won't admit it.

See how it works?

Ah, well. Jesus was a Rabbi. A Muslim Rabbi. It's becoming clear.

Jesus the Muslim. I like the sound of that. It will drive our rightwing "news" presenters insane.

Thank you!

Jesus was a Muslim (generally) and a Jew (specifically).

The word "Islam" has a general meaning and a specific meaning:

General: submission to Allah in the way he desires: this is the religion of all prophets and their true followers since Adam until Muhammad (peace be upon them all).

Specific: the form of religion and the sets of laws with which the prophet Muhammad (sas) was sent.

The word Jew in Qur'an refers to the followers of the Torah .. which means that Abraham (pbuh) was not a Jews as Jews and Christians claim, because both the Torah and Gospels were revealed after him.

[3:65] Ye people of the book why dispute ye about Abraham, when the law and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? have you understanding?
[3:67] Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian; but he was true in faith, and bowed his will to God's, (which is Islam), and he joined not gods with God.

Jesus was a Jew. You may be correct in your labelling him as one who submits to God; however, the term muslim in normal society does carry that designation. It refers to a religious group, a group Jesus was not part of.

For example, I could say that Christ was a gay individual. Most people of today's society would understand this to mean that Christ was homosexual, yet 50 years ago people would understand it to mean that Christ was happy.

Therefore, when attempting to put a label such as that on an individual it requires much explanations or it becomes easily misleading.

I am afraid he was a Jew. Although religion is supposed to be eternal and therefore Islam should have always existed, you can't classify Jesus as a Muslim, because since he didn't know about it, he couldn't have followed it. For Muslims he's only another prophet, not the messiah, as he is for the Christians. Well I hope that helped you

In fact all the prophets including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, John, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammed were all Muslims. i.e. submitting their will to Almighty Allah alone.

The perverse need to posess one who posesses the world. Blessed are they imbued with his all pervading omnipresent and omniscient spirit. What race, relgion creed could exalt themselves as the chosen one, yes Islam is the last defender of the right to practice religion and protect the name of God, but with an all encompassing regard, respect and love for other beings...

My dear, Jesus was a Judean and lived in what was until recently the area known as Palestine. Mohammad was not even born for some hundred years when Jesus was alive.

Peace

Haha funny things we people can come up with sometimes.
Jesus Christ while on earth said many false teachers and false prophets will come and deceive many and who are these prophets Mohammad, Ellen White, Joseph Smith, Also the various Jehovah's Witnesses who prophesied.
The deity of Christ means that Christ is God. Scripture clearly teaches this important fact in the following ways.

The attributes of God are used in the Bible speaking of Christ.
His pre-existence. Christ has no beginning. John 1:1-3; 17:5.
His omnipresence. He is with His servants everywhere. Matthew 28:20.
His omnipotence. He has unlimited power. Revelation 1:18.
His omniscience. He has unlimited knowledge. John 21:17.
His unchangeableness. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever." Hebrews 13:8.
The titles of God are given to Christ.
God the Father addresses the Son as God. Hebrews 1:8.
Men called Him God, and He did not refuse their worship. John 20:28
Demons recognized Him as God. Mark 1:24.
He declared Himself to be God. John 10:30.
