Well, first off, congrats. Second, you should always do research BEFORE getting the animal. Obviously it's too late for that now, so I won't get into it. But you still get a tsk tsk from me.
A few things you may not know about budgerigars, (budgies) - they are of the parrot family, they are one of the parrots with the largest vocabulary ability (though it's very hard to train them, because they KNOW it's easier to whistle), and if you have one that was not hand-fed it is going to be VERY hard to tame. Instead of filling up this little answer box with a lot of stuff you won't be able to remember, I'll just give you a few really good websites that will give you the basics, and give you something to turn to when you have a question.
Congrats again, and I hope you find this a little helpful!

Congratulations on your new pet....but you really sholdn't be asking this question as you should have thoroughly learnt about your parrot before purchasing. But...as you have them already search google for all the budgie websites and buy LOTS of books on Amazon. The basics you gotta know are their exact diet and how to get them out of the cage correctly

He should have another bird with him, parakeets need to live in pairs, you also need to play with him for like an hour a day.
