Apparently it is used instead of or along with the water or along with the water. I had this while in the hospital and it was very delicious. Anyone have a recipe?

easy, just substitute the amount of water with the soda.
If you use 4 boxes of jello, you are starting with 4 cups of water. Then instead of 4 cups of water for the cooling process, just use 2 cups of water and then 2 cups of soda, or 3 cups of soda and 1 cup of water, according to taste. 4 cups of soda will just over power the jello. Use flavors like cherry or black cherry with the soda, providing you are using Coke or Pepsi. 7-up and or Sprite, use lemon or lemon-lime flavors.

Here is the recipe:

1 lg. pkg. cherry Jello
1 (12 oz.) can Coke
1 can pineapple chunks
1 can black Bing cherries
3/4 c. pecans

Drain juice from fruit and add enough water for 2 cups liquid. Bring liquid to a boil and dissolve Jello in hot liquid. Cool. Add Coke, fruits and nuts. Pour mixture into mold and chill.

there are two types of coca cola jellos, for one of them you jus use cola instead of water, but there is also another type in which they use water, but they add to it the additive flavar of coca cola(like the added fruit flavors for other types of jellos)
i like the one to which we add the cola instead of water because we can use diet coke or even coke zero and make a good dessert but with less calories.

Just use cola instead of water. I have not used cola but I have made sparkling fruit jello with club soda.

You'll need a box of plain gelatin (if you are in the US, I think Knox is one of the brands). Then, like they said, just use Coke in place of the water. You may need to add sugar until it tastes like you want, but what fun to experiment!

Working with plain gelatin is slightly more hassle than Jello-brand stuff, but it's like, five or 10 minutes extra work, tops! REally easy! Give it a try!

I`ve never heard of it but I`m English and I understand that Americans eat some quite unusual stuff for Breakfast e.g. some sort of grit, mashed potatoes and jelly.

Well, as long as you like it I suppose.
No offense, we just eat a bit differently.
