We cannot earn salvation and cannot loose it either.
Those who come to Jesus in faith, and trust in Him because He died in our place, will receive forgiveness for all the sin we have done.
Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through Me."
Those who serve God, do it, not to earn His love, but because they know already that He loves them. Salvation is a free gift. (John 3:16 For God so loved the world, every person on it, that He gave Jesus to die on the cross for us; that if we trust in Him, we receive eternal life.)
Once we trust Jesus, God The Holy Spirit comes in to dwell in us. He is the one who helps to live a life that serves God.
We still have a problem, we are still human. In Galatians chapter five we read about the war between our flesh and the Spirit of God within. When we follow sinful desires, we do not loose our salvation, but we do loose our joy and our power.
What you need to do is realise that you cannot help your self. You need to turn to Jesus and ask Him to give you a new life and to set you free.
Then daily ask The Holy Spirit to help you to live for God.
On a practical level, you need to read the bible, pray and seek fellowship with others who love Jesus.
Also, seek help and support to get over the addiction. You may have to go to AA or something similiar.
You do not have to live in fear and defeat. God loves you and you do have hope. In Isaiah 61, we read that Jesus came to set the prisoner free. Ask Him to set you free today

I used to be good, then was bad, and now am good again, but I don't think that God will make a tally of sorts. Sure, the good I've done in the past has helped me to climb out of the hole of destruction I was in, and I think that was my reward. I see every day as a new opportunity to serve God now and don't really worry about the overall tally.

Of course, the Christian God is not meant to be viewed as an entity that relies on the theory of "do me a solid, and ill do you a solid". He is a God that requires subservence and servitude from his followers. there are a few views on the subject, some christians believe he will forgive at the drop of a hat, and some believe that he wishes only to punish people.
So what im trying to say is only you can decide, there is no father figure standing over you shaking his finger and saying "do it and ill fu*king spank you!", we were given a concience to decide what is right and wrong, use it to guide your steps.
Your friendly satan

He failed weak to temptation. That was one of the major problems God had with Israel. They were weak with temptation. The devil loves this trick. But over all, It would be left up to God and the person that is weak. Not a chance I would want to take for my very soul and eternity. The Bible says to be strong, to stand firm on the Word of God when temptation comes.

'To thine ownself be true' WS. Rather than seeking to please what to you is an unseen and unknown power love thyself. Respect your dignity, self esteem, your spirit and soul, your body temple. Do not do to yourself what you would not let another to do to your mother, as a rule of thumb. I chain smoke, the weaker physically I become, the more prone to temperemental outbursts I become, I swear like a trooper when filled with anger, although I shouldnt. Wordly and wise and yet the wide eyed childlike innocence remains...be kind to yourself, love yourself, before you seek it elswehere. The pure and happy soul is a haven for the holy spirit, and to have any degree of HS within, is a heavenly life in itself...Be Loved little darling.

Look, I'm no expert, but all God wants is that you commit to doing what He told you to do in the Bible.
He understands that you may not be able to do it 100% but your effort is what counts.
Even grasping what God wants you to do is such an enormous task for humans, that if you just do that, you get a passing grade.
Hope this helps.

Who says God is about rewards?
We are miserable sinners remember and we need to win back God's love. He doesn't owe us anything.
If you really want God in your life, stop being selfish and thinking about your 'reward'.
You need to grovel and hope God will let you back.
God is about forgiveness, and God WILL forgive you, if you are truly sorry.
