It is not only OK to feel all of the human emotions, it is necessary. However, and a big however, in feeling them we must pay attention to why we are feeling them, to know ourselves and what is going on with us. Being Emotionally Intelligent in this way is the beginning of not having our lives determined by our moods. As these emotions come and go, and as we pay attention to them, we learn that there is a part of us which remains at peace. That "secret that sits in the center and knows" is who we really are, not our emotions.

Human emotions are are wonderous thing. They show when we are happy, angry, sad, hurt, excited, hungry and so much much more. That is what makes us different. As we can understand another's emotion, then react apon it. ( Unlike other creatures we are programed a bit different. Example: A hurt human might stand a good chance of surviving. Where as a hurt animal would most likely be killed. )

To deny your emotion comes from distrust, feelings of weakness, possibly being raised that way from childhood, and the many more examples.

We as humans are set aside. Why? Because- Just as you have done so- ( recognised that we deny others and ourselves the rights and uses of these feelings ) As you my friend can see, just as most of us also can see, when another is denying these feelings.

Thats what brought us out of the garden of eden. The awakening so to say.

DAAAA- DOMMM- DA- DAHHHHH!

I still like the thought of dragging my new mate by the hair just after having clubbed her over the head! ( By the hair! Never by the feet. )

Ha! Ha!

Life,,,ain't it grand!

We as humans can do think this way. Where as an animal can not.

Happy Holidays, Bootz!
Yes, I believe it is ok to feel all of the human emotions. Emotions and feelings are one of the things that make us human and are a gift from God. However, we have to take the good with the bad. If we never had any bad feelings/emotions, we wouldn't enjoy the good ones.
It is not good to deny yourself of your feelings/emotions. They are yours and yours alone. They are what separates you from others and gives you originality.
If you continuously have bad feelings/emotions, it might be a good idea to seek a professional out because it could mean a more serious underlying issue. Hope this helps? Seems to be lots of good answers for you...

To deny our emotions is to deny an integral part of who we are. We are the alchemy of our thoughts and feelings, with our thoughts fueling our emotions. To have a thought without an emotion is to have an empty process that has no more value than a body void of spirit. It is the thought process we put behind the emotion that manifests our reality.

Suppression is horrid; control is something else altogether. Denial is a river in Egypt, as they say ... to do so to our emotions is to deny the yin aspect of our soul.

My dear, emotions are neutral, which means that you just cannot help feeling emotions. The problem comes when we have to decide what is the right thing to do. Emotions, if uncontrolled, can lead one into all sorts of strife. One has to learn to detach from one's emotions to make good judgement -especially when serious issues are involved. Emotions just irrupt from with in us inexplicably but then we must let the mind take over.

Peace

All human emotions are valid and significant. But not all actions driven by those emotions are socially acceptable. So I guess it's preferable to deny those emotions that spur the desire for unacceptable behavior, like hatred and anger. Beyond that, though, there are a lot of emotions that just don't feel good. Sadness, jealousy. While valid, and possibly leading you to make decisions in one direction or another, they just make you feel like crap. Who wouldn't avoid them if possible?

I couldn't answer the question any better than many of the other answerers...

Emotions just want to be felt...

That doesn't mean you have to do anything about them. They simply need to be acknowledged.

Believe it or not, there is less pain involved when you allow yourself to experience even the unpleasant or 'bad' emotions.

There is no such thing as 'bad' or 'good' emotions...those labels are put on them according to the culture you live in.

All emotions will be experienced one way or another . Holding or turning them in for an extended period will cause a form of post traumatic [extended ] stress disorder . All emotions need to be expressed outwardly and even talked about . Sometime you need to hold back (supress )emotions for a short period of time maybe even a few days . But to maintain your physical and emotional health you must let your emotions flow and not supress them so long that they become repressed .

I would say that emotions are made up of what the others had done for the person because of the person. It could be deep and lasting longer, or shallow and temporary. It depends on how much you are to put into it when destiny comes.

Our emotions are what signal us to act. To deny them is out of accord with out natural being. What we need to do is release feelings attached to our emotions to attain peace so we can respond to them soundly and rationally.
