Humans are not perfect creatures, and are easy seduced by their own hearts desires, this had historically move complete populations from side to side of the planet, sometime emerging civilizations or wipe out others... The dark side in every one of us, is always present, some will give in better then fight the conflict between desires and principles.
The religion adopted or their belief will reflect a lot of what is already inside of them. So some chose to worship the evil entity as a way of life, and even have their own set of rules and guidances. So yes, they are out there.

LaVeyan Satanists don't worship the Devil. LaVeyan Satanism is an atheistic belief system, they use Satan as a symbol representing human desires and such.
Theistic Satanists do believe and worship the Devil.

Salaam Alaykum,
Yes and I remember well going to school with some of them.
The music popular at the time were bands that drew teenage angst and promoted belief in the dark arts. They may claim a
life of hedonism and freedom but from what I observed they were anything but happy. Many suffered drug and alcohol abuse, self mutilation, child molestation sometimes at the churches they belonged as kids, and severe depression and mental illness. The music was very popular and entertaining at the time but certain bands drew a cult following of youth. Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, and most went on with their lives just listening and being normal others went into this whole Gothic look and were very odd they painted their faces, bought a copy of the the Satanic Bible, and started following the teachings of a dark arts master sung about in an Ozzy song Aleister Crowley circa 1800's. It turned out to be more than a musical fad and lots of bands these days have the same fans with the same principles..like Marilyn Manson. Also very popular with many were the fascination with Vampires and Anne Rice and the Vampire Chronicals. Loads of people around the world love these books and music and did not turn out this way. Yet I remember these kids and the dark paths they were headed too proudly wearing the serial occult killer Charles Manson on their T shirts. A group of social misfits. Scary to look at and tragic too. Many grown up now in my era that were the severe followers of the dark arts, occult, satan worship are either dead or in prison.

Yes there are Satanists.
Most Satanists (like myself) are members of the Church of Satan, an atheistic organization. The CoS does not literally believe in the existence of the Abrahamic God or Satan. Satan is used simply as a symbol of self-fulfillment instead of false social constructs that deny what humans are.
There are some groups that are theistic satanists however. One such example is the Temple of Set, which worships one of the chaos/darkness deities of the Egyptian gods, Set.
http://www.churchofsatan.com would be a good source if you want to learn about what most Satanists believe.

There are really Satanists, yes, but the majority (at least 95%) are LaVeyan Satanists, basically meaning they don't believe in a God or a Satan, they just happen to use ritual to worship the self (it's a hedonistic philosophy.)
There are also a few other varied individual doctrines that call themselves "Satanism", believing random things that connect Satan to Sumerian mythology and so forth. But these groups are rather small.

Satanists follow what the mythological character Satan stands for: non-conformity, intelligence, indulgence. Few actually worship the guy.
Devil worshipers worship the Devil.
Whether they are evil or not depends on the individual, just like every other religion.

yes there are devil worshipers ... some practice witchcraft and black magic and some other sorcery. They have gatherings about 3-4 times a year... lots here in California.
Lots of people do not hide the fact that they do worship a "demon" of some sort.... even naming Lucifer!

Well this is a common mistake. Satanists(who were given that name by ignorant christians) do NOT actually "worship" satan. In fact quite the opposite.. They believe in them selves as having the power over their lives, as well as that every single human has the opportunity to CHOSE good or bad... Not some make believe character that has power over people.. :-) hope that clears things up for you dear!
