I went to renew my drivers license at the Dmv and the woman yelled at me as if I stole her purse or something. I came back to fix another problem and a different woman got snappy with me for no reason. WTF is wrong with these people?

There is no alternative to DMV, other than to move to another state. The employees do not need to keep the customers happy. It is almost impossible to get fired from a government job. I have seen clerks who can not do the simplest transactions, and they then have an attitude when you question their answers!

The simple fact is that when you have a monopoly, customers have to accept whatever you give them. They have the power and they know nothing will happen if a customer complains!

Most of these folks are not highly skilled, highly paid, or highly trained. They got the job and plan on being there until the day they retire! If they had the skills, they could make a lot more in the private sector, but that would also require them to work and be held accountable for their actions!

I don't know wtf is wrong with them. They ARE rude. They kept telling me I didn't have the paperwork I needed and turned me around three times. Everytime I got the paperwork they needed, they would make something else up, saying I was missing something else. I was trying to renew an expired license. lol Those people need to get another job if that job makes them so miserable! I didn't think anyone else noticed how rude they are.

Because they are a bunch of losers who know it. They also know that they will never amount to anything in life, that on top o their small income makes them truly miserable people. Being nasty with us who are technically their customers is their only way of boosting their own little egos. They think that just because they're wearing that uniform they are superior to us.

Power trip!
They know you gotta wait for them. You cant go anywhere else. So whatever frustration they're living in their lives: the customer is the scapegoat!

I think it's most likely that they are being treated poorly on the job by their managers. Probably, they are treated like cogs on a wheel that can easily be replaced. This leads to resentment, and resentment leads to anger - which after a while, depending on the person, cannot be hidden.

They feel they cannot show this feeling to their manager (s) so you take the brunt of it. They should have more self respect and get jobs that agree with them. I agree with you, they are extremely annoying - and it isn't just the people at the DMV, no sir, nah-uh.

Hi, The clerks at DMV are not all bad....although i have had my moments with some of them. Lots of times, people ahead of you in line will have incomplete paperwork, or are trying to pull a "fast one" over on DMV. I used to be very successful at fudging paperwork at DMV.....not anymore. Here in my little town most of the clerks are quite knowledge-able about their jobs, and they are pleasant to deal with....like anything else...if your nice to them, they might be nice back to you. Think about what its like to have that job.....they are responsible for making sure the paperwork is correct, then it sits in a basket waiting to be processed for 15 or 20 mins.....then has to be put on the computer and rechecked. Its gotta get old fairly quick.....i bet turnover is kinda high, but there is one girl at my local office who's been there for a while. Around here, half the ppl who work a cash register at any place are virtually illiterate. If the cash register doesnt tell them how much to return after a purchase, they cant count it back out in their heads. I was traveling recently, stopped at a motel....the room rental was $35 or something........i gave the guy $40 in 2 twenties.....he gave me back $60 in 3 twenties, and my room key!!! I just laughed and went to my room. Its funny!! Clerks are just stupid, and can be replaced by another stupid clerk anytime.....its low pay, bottom of the barrel work........but someone's gotta do it!! Just be glad it ain't you!!!

They're certainly nice to us here in rural Ohio. But then again, we are Godly people here. Steeped in holiness, we are.

But it certainly helps, in any situation where a clerk can make your life thoroughly miserable, to be proactively pleasant, even aggressively so. Compliment the weird drawings on her fingernails, or the picture of the kids she keeps at her workstation, or something--anything. Be really, really nice.

When you look prepared to be combative, oftentimes you are, even if you don't realize you're doing it. Thus you should do everything you can do to counteract that, and that generally means being obsequiously pleasant to officials wherever you may meet them.

Most of the customers don't want to be there. They have to take a test and/or pay money. The customers are angry and they snap at the employees. I find if I talk civilly and friendly with the DMV people, then they are just at nice.

WTF says a bookful. ATTITUDE ....... u respond to the way people act to u. if a person greets u with a smile and a pleasent voice, u will respond the same way. if he/she is a professional, they will greet u courtestly but they are only human. maybe the last person was obnoxious and he/she hasnt had time to cool down. i lay my paperwork down facing them to read and not say a word, waiting for them to respond. sometimes everything is done without a word being said. if she is rude without u being wrong, then request to see the manager. he/she may have other complqaints for being rude. have a nice day
