It is natural for there to be rivalry between the services. Each one believes his service is better than the others. Competion breeds excellence.
The strong rivalry between the Navy and Marines goes back over 200 years.

A lot of that had to do with the Marines on naval bases being the guards (MP's) and there to guard (protect) the Admirals in case of a mutiny.
On ships of the line with Flag Officers (Admirals) on board i.e. batteships, aircraft carriers. The Marines were on board to protect the Admirals in case of a mutiny by the sailors. They were also the brig guards.
In short they, the Marines, i.e. seagoing Marines, / embassy Marines. More commonly known as seagoing bellhops, were more or less the dirty cops on Naval bases and ships.
Oh! there is a lot of difference between them and the real grunt mud Marines.
Not too many mud Marines liked them either.

before army and navy is close, but not now, navy is alot closer with marine corps, and army is closer to airforce. Because marine stay with navy ships, and army often need airforce help for mission.
