I had a Canon and took it to the Arctic...(and the temperature was roughly in the teens and twenties) but the camera quit working as a result of the cold. Is this possible with the Nikon if I am going to be in the snow taking pics and possibly during a spell where the temperature gets down to about 15 degrees F.?

Nikon specifications state 0 to +40 degrees C. Canon is probably similar. Thus, you're 10 degrees lower than spec. I would assume that it would work, but I where I live, it rarely gets below freezing so I can't give you any first hand info. LCD displays tend to get sluggish at cold temperatures and electronics operation can be problematic at temperatures lower than freezing . You'll need to test this out on your particular camera. Results will vary between units in the same family.

If possible, keep the camera tucked into your parka to keep it warm.
