Catholics believe that the crucifixion of Jesus was actually a metaphor for when he exploded. Now, I'VE never exploded, but I know what it would be like. Don't ask me how, but I know what it would be like. It seems like a pretty big deal to me.

Do you think Jesus' suffering when he exploded was a sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the world?

I am sorry.....Where exactly in the bible does it say that Jesus Exploded? I am Catholic and I guess I missed that one! Cusifiction was a typical form if lethal punishment in those days. Like lethal injection is today. (without the scathing)
The point is that Jesus did nothing wrong, he preached love and one god, which was highly controversial in those days. He was getting popular and the roman empire didn't need anyone out there getting people riled up. They wanted the natives to be calm and going about their business. The hiarchy in the jewish comunity was threatened by him because of WHAT he was preaching and the fact that THEIR parishoners where following his ways and not theirs. So they did everything they could to get him out of the picture. Even pardoned a known murderer, just to get their way. Pillate DIDN'T want to crucify jesus. He saw him as a peaceful man. He gave them their way because he was protecting his own head. Cesar made it clear to him when he was assigned to that post that if he cant keep the peace the he wont keep his head.

Jesus WILLINGLY went to the cross, forgave his persecutors and died for a belief. The metaphors in their are: Stand by what you believe and hold true in your heart. Forgive those who hold ill will to you. Tread onward no matter what life dishes out to you and when the end comes have faith that all will be better and there is a reason for everything.

Jesus death on the cross wasn't to cleans the sins of the entire world. It was to cleans the sins of every person, ONE AT A TIME. On a personal and spiritual level. Not the social and political level.

Hope this was a help

Are you a catholic? Exploded in what sense? what is the metaphor here? is it the crucifixion or your "exploded"? if your exploded is a metaphor for the consequences of his crucifixion then what HE did was sufficient sacrifice for the sin of the world. I would say that exploding in the sense of the great feeling of been release from the burden of sin. To be free! If you know what that means!

If you were to believe the bible, Christ crucifixion is for real. He literally died in the cross and not merely a metaphor. Unless otherwise you do not believe the bible.

It is not because he exploded, in rage, He could not save mankind and His crucifixion just a metaphor? The bible tells that sin should be paid in the flesh and blood and His death resembles as a peace offering for sin.

In the old testament of the bible, the offering of cows, lambs,.etc. is a practice of the Israelites so that their sins be forgiven, but the sin of mankind has a great price that the son of God has to die in the cross as offering so that the sin of everyone of us be forgiven..

If you study the bible, the Israelites are the chosen people of God. Salvation came from the Jews, the bible tells.

here is some thing from the bible the last of five " Sorrowful Mysteries". The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery
THE CRUCIFIXION

The hands and feet of Jesus are nailed to the cross in the presence of His afflicted Mother.
"Father, forgive them for they know not what they do."
"This day you will be with Me in paradise."
"Woman, behold your Son. Son, behold your Mother."
"My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"
"I thirst."
"It is finished."
"Father, into Your hands I commend My spirit."
The side of Jesus is pierced with a lance. His body is taken down and placed in the arms of His Mother.
Father, by the merits of the crucifixion and death of Jesus, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Spiritual Fruit: Pardoning of Injuries

No where does it say that Jesus was blown up, does it?
You have a Merry Christmas even if you don't believe in him.

I've not heard it worded this way before.
Exploded like a rocket ship?
Metaphorically speaking....perhaps an ascension with a blast of power?
I didn't know that Catholics believed this.

jesus exploded???
wtf?
i thought he was just crucified..they dont tell us he exploded in school!?
is that EVEN in the bible?
well, besides that part, i dont believe his crucifiction was just a metaphor....
---i believe there was a lot of symbolism involved, but i do not believe the actaul physical crufiction was made up...
--it really happened, as letters found from his era involve many political leaders discussing Jesus' death and crucifiction.

Religion is all about FAITH and not about LOGIC. If we all sets to put in our minds- all religions present on this earth will become DRAMA only.

There is no point about JESUS - point is if you trust him or not. If you trust then it does not matter how he dies and if not, again it does not matter how he dies.
I think we should listen to what he preaches. LOVE and we do not LOVE .....leave alone enemy/ neighbor...we even do not LOVE people who loves us.

Had 5% of Christians had shown trust in him... picture of the world could have been different.
Catholics, Protestants, Evangelicals and many more lines of faith had come up...this seems as BIBLE and JESUS is not complete...thats why need of a branch is felt ???
