Acts 12:4 - Why does my original KJV say "Easter" where all other Bibles have "Passover"?

KJV Acts 12:4
And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people

New KJV
So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover. <==

NIV
After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.

My niece and nephew asked about Easter after we could not find Christmas in the bible. I had to use their mother's bible which is not the original KJV and I could not find it there. So we went online and found the above. Why the difference?

Easter is incorrect. This should clearly be the case, as it did not yet exist.

The Greek word used is πάσχα (paska), which means Passover. (I hope the Greek letters appear here, you may have you change your browser settings)

A better translation is the Young Literal Translation. Most others, including the NIV, are quite poor.

If you go to the Blue Letter Bible website and look up a verse, you can change the version to the Young.

This is one of the 20,000 known mistakes in the KJV.

Though the KJV was the best bible for it's time, we today know more about the Greek, the original language,

we have 1000's of more older manuscripts than were available in 1611 (KJV had only 8)

we no longer speak as the people do in 1611.

Duthie in his book on how to choose you bible, recommended for serious bible readers:

NASB, RSV, NWT.

Of these three, I have found the NWT to be the best.

passover comes from the time of Moses, when death was passsing over the houses of the hebrews and killing the first born of the Egyptians.
you can find that in the old test.
Try Exodus, or Deuteronomy..exodus is the flight from Egypt's bondage of the jews slavery.
If you watch the ten commandments, you will see Charlton Heston acting out the passover with his family in the movie and the angel of death passing over the houses.
The angel of death knew what houses to go to,cause the blood of the lamb was on the hebrew households..on the framed door.
Pharoah wanted to kill the first born, trying to get back at Moses...but his curse blindsided him, and he cursed himself...true story.
And moses had Aaron to speak for him most times, cause moses had a stutter.

Seeing as how Easter was not a term until the 5th century....and this is talking about the 1st century....

I'd say Passover is correct! lol
