A close friend of mine and i have been discussing lately if Hitler was a true genius just corrupted from power, or just an idiot, and we've both come up with the conclusion that if he hadn't corrupted under power he would have been a great leader. What other person could convince an entire nation that one denomination of religion was terrible, and that everyone associated with them was horrible too. Hitler could be defined as popular when he was younger. He was a born leader. I'm not saying I support anything Hitler did, on the contrary actually, but I'm curious to see who else sees him as a political genius.

I love how everything in R&S goes back to cults...lol

Well, an evil regiem won't last too long if proper action is taken against it. I think it Hitler hadn't acted in such stupid ways he would have done Germany a lot of good. If he had been in a leadership position to help vs. hurt he would have done a great difference in the positive to the country

I like to think of him as an opportunistic pathogen.

I'll give him that he was a brilliant manipulator, he knew when to say the right things at the right time; and his ego-fueled charisma was certainly infectious among the desperate crowds looking for a leader, a "saviour", if you will. But beyond that, he was a complete idiot; the "miraculous" economic revival that took place as he assumed power was only thanks to the inhumane labor that the German people toiled under and the sacrifices they had to make.
Besides, turning on such an ally as Russia in the middle of the war was probably one of the stupidest moves in military history, one that cost him the war.
I remember in 6th grade a kid commenting on Hitlers decision to turn on Russia on how "retarded" it was; so would Germany have been in better hands if a 13 year old kid was a military strategist?

I think he was a genius with very deep psychological issues. It doesn't matter how smart you are, true mental illness is nothing that can be reasoned with.

Sociopathic--possibly psychopathic. He was abused by his alcoholic father. He molested his niece. When a child is raised in an environment like that they have really corrupted knowledge to draw on and make decisions with. (Couple that with being admired for your genius and never being told no or questioned.)

He projected all of his country's issues onto the Jews. He CHOSE to do this. Whether he was delusional or it was a political move is debatable. At the time Germany needed a uniter unfortunately the only way he could do it was by creating a common enemy. He systematically created evidence through the "science" of Eugenics that determined that Jews were not human...and this was accepted.

Maybe in his own mind he thought he was doing the right thing for his people. He just had such a sordid view on how the world worked. Mixing that with power is a horrible combination. His people viewed him as strong and passionate...they took his word that evil forces were after them, they were afraid and they stood behind him.

FDR was a bit smarter though--the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. He did not try to divide us ideologically or spiritually.

A genius that went insane due to illness, drug addiction, and stress. Many of his later bad choices are text book for the late stages of the STD and cocaine/meth addiction he had.

Realise he was put in power by people who wanted WW2. Many of his actions were scripted out side his hands. Poland fell easy because Britain and France demanded Poland pull their troops out of defense bunkers and meet Hitler on ground of his choice or they would not honor their defense treaties. The Dunkirk error was because of peace negotiations with the ones who put him in power. His expectation of a peace treaty shows he did not understand the fullness of the genocidal mindset of his backers. His other greatest error was in allieing with Japan who the USA manipulated into attacking with threats about Manchuria and a oil embargo.

His genocide efforts were straight out of the old testament. Very close to the heart of what God instructed the Jews to do. If he pushed at Dunkirk and avoided the Japanese he probably could have held europe. We would be looking at the results of a national breeding program to wipe out criminals, the insane, and homosexuals. A mirror image of God's efforts with the jews in the old testament. However Hitler had more sand than the jews did and almost brought it into being. The jews never seemed to have acted on the part of the bible where if your kid was a thug you should take him to the elders and have him killed. It would be very interesting to see what the results would have been.

Notice the kind of people who could bring the dream about under such circumstances are not the kind of people it would produce. Hitler knew he would killed in the world he was trying to create. He was trying to create a people and a society that were better and at odds with him. No thieves, no murders, sexual deviants or insane people in the breeding pool. A world were people are not the animals they are today due to bad genetics.

A genius that 10's of thousands of years of animal husbandry says would have made a better world through making better people. I find very few faults beyond the price that had to be paid for the goal to be achieved. His crimes would have been a small price for the results.

Be honest. The bible says that a day will shortly come when a man who dies at a hundred will be thought cursed. Is that genetic manipulation not almost within our grasp? Look up super mouse. Hitler was using the only tools he had to achieve the same type goal.

Will you call the FORCED genetic manipulation of the offspring the insane, criminals, and sexual deviants to eliminate such things a crime? Breeding laws to prevent the birth of such time bombs? Who's suffering is worse their's or their potential victims?

He was a genius. Sick, but a genius nonetheless. His high school guidance counselor should have been shot for not telling him to become an economist rather than painter.

Regarding Hitler being a christian: Hitler sought relics of every religion and even sought to revive nordic mythology as a religion. Calling Hitler a christian is simply absurd.

Kinda similar to Christianity if you think about it... convincing that a group of people (sinners) are the ones that are wrong and deserve to die (go to hell). And to listen and follow every word the leader (God) of the right group says. And to top it all off both were very much controlled by fear.

Besides that Hitler was a genius in the sense of a leader. He knew how to manipulate minds, but used it for evil. You don't take over a country and blindside them with mass murder without being intelligent.

There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I think the reason for his political endeavors was only to imprison and torture the less fortunate (Jews, mentally handicapped, etc). He believed that a certain race was meant to populate the world (and he misread everything Nietzsche wrote).

So, yes, I believe he was insane but far from a genius. He wasn't stupid, but he lacked the ability to control his hatred.

Hitler was a great leader, but he had some bad ideas....but he had some good ones.

Think about it. Volkswagen was started(in part) because of Hitler.

The autoban...or whatever...

These are just two examples, but besides the whole "I hate jews and I want to kill them all thing" Hitler wasn't that bad of a guy

There is genius in a great number of people. The problem is that they have a choice if they will use that genius toward good or evil. Unfortunately, they often times choose evil. The scary thing is that they do not think they are evil. :)

A true Genius. If Japan hadn't ****** up (Hitler was in an alliance with them, but had no plans for them to attack the U.S when they did) he may have did it too.

Now of course without the U.S he could have finished off the rest of the Alliance, no prob.

But countries may have feared him and attacked of course.

But he was smart, he would have kept aligning, possibly with China.

Yes he was a genius.

and he almost did it too.

I admire every thing he was capable of doing, except the whole killing the Jews.

Note to the dumb *** who said he was making a deal with the devil: He was a Christian you idiot. He ******* managed to steal the Spear that supposedly stabbed Jesus Christ. He killed the Jews as revenge for them killing Jesus.

He was a racist, and hated jews, but not possessed come on!

Genious? No
Good at surrounding himself with people who executed the fear and propaganda, he seemed to me to be a megalomaniac.

Not well accepted in his younger years. Quite the "odd-one".

Known to be a drug addict, esp. speed, it's no wonder his thinking was both psychotically dimensioned and paranoid.
If he had one predominant characteristic, it might be said that he was pathologically in an existence of denial.

It doesn't take too many brains to influence the thinking of a great many people; many a twisted loser have [and do] accomplished the same.

He was at "the right place/right time" and had the opportunity [luck] that things went in his favor.
