Lee Stroebel, The Case for Christ
C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
Ross Clifford, Leading lawyers look at the Resurrection
Sir Lionel Luckhoo, What is your verdict?
Your friend is too afraid of what people may think? Listen, friend, Jesus is going to damn this world to hell, and it DOESN'T MATTER what the world thinks.
Lee Stroebel is a former Criminal Investigative Journalist who set out to prove Jesus never existed, and he is now a minister. "The Case for Christ" is EXHAUSTIVELY FOOTNOTED, with secular sources.
C. S. Lewis was indeed, an athiest proffessor at Oxford who found God.
The only thing I could possibly add to what has already been stated is that I, too, personally, was Godless. I have broken EVERY one of the Ten Commandments: I have lied, cheated, stolen, and murdered (this is NOT in my imagination, as a teenager, I paid for an abortion). I have abused my body with drugs and alcohol. I have spent time in prison. I have dishonored God, my parents, my friends and neighbors.
When I was getting ready to marry my wife, (who is beautiful and kind and Godly and everything I'M NOT) I spent an entire afternoon telling her all the bad things I could think of about myself, because I didn't think it fair to surprise her after she married me to discover what a scumbag I was.
When I was done, I asked her if she still wanted anything to do with me. She referred me to the scripture I now give you to give your friend:
Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Obviously, I married her.
It is of a truth, I tell you, those who have been forgiven much, love much. Those who have been forgiven little, love little.
I have been forgiven much, and so too I would encourage your friend to come and taste, and see that the Lord, he is good. Your friend has not died and gone to Hell, it is not too deep, nor too late. Today is the day of salvation.

Try C.S. Lewis' book called, "Mere Christianity". He was an atheist college professor at Oxford in England. This book tells about his journey into Christianity and why.
Also, look up a guy named Sir Lionel Luckhoo. He was/is the most successful trial lawyer in modern times (He's in the Guinness Book of World Records) He decided to put the Resurrection of Jesus Christ "on trial" to prove it wrong but HE was the one who was wrong. He's now a faithful Christian.

Hello,
The best book I ever read :
The Life Of Christ by Fulton F. Sheen
Written by a Catholic bishop it is still non denominational and a friend of mine, a minister in the Church O Christ Disciples used it a lot in making up his sermons. It is easy reading but terrific insight which also covers the history of 1st century Palestine really well. There is lots of great ammunition given to show how Christ was much different than the other religious leaders who appeared from Mohamed to Buddha.

I used to be a Christian and then started to think that Jesus was the father of lies so now I just believe in God instead. I do sometimes think about going back to being a Christian, but I don't want to worship the devil so I can't. Don't know of any books though.

Lee Strobel "Case for Faith"...this is an account of a man who was an athiest journalist, and went on a quest, I guess you can say, to discover the truth about Christianity...in his journey he gave himself to Christ...very cool book!!

I had a book years ago written by a reporter (I think) who set out to actually prove Christianity wrong and wound up becoming a believer (to his wife's shock). "A Case for Christ"?

There purportedly are some books of this type, but I have no particular interest in such and thus cannot cite specific ones. (One place to look is Zondervan; they publish a lot of religious books.) It is obvious that he needs to scrutinize his beliefs with some care; once one has done the appropriate intellectual analysis to determine that atheism is appropriate, it isn't easy to undo it.
