Heaven is allot easier to understand. Life is a test and those that past the test are rewarded with eternal happiness in heaven. Its easy to understand because God is supposedly loving and merciful. But why hell? You dont do what I say you`re gonna burn? Seems like God is petty. Does he send people to hell to show how macho he is. The more appropiate punishment would be for people to cease to exist.

Heaven and hell are real- however your perception of who is in heaven and who is in hell are wrong. We do not get into heaven if we pass some type of a test.- there is nothing that we can do that will ever earn our salvation. Hell is what we all deserve. God does not send anyone to hell, to show how macho He is- people condemn themselves to hell, because of sin. "You don't do what I say you are gonna burn?" Where does it say this? What the scriptures say is- "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on Him will have everlasting life". We cannot earn heaven, it is completely through the shed blood of Christ. He paid the price that we could never pay.

Because of ignorance and lack of reading the Bible may Christians believe that hell is forever and it is not. The only people living forever are the ones in heaven, what would be the point of having people eternally burn. People get confused when it says the beast and the false prophet shall be tormented day and night forever and ever, however it also said in the Bible that Sodom and Gomorrah would burn forever...is it still burning...nope. The hell is ceasing the exist. the devil will no longer be able to torment others.
Hell is actually when the earth is burnt before a new earth is created
"For behold , the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch."
Malachi 4:3
you ask why hell..well..
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:4
So the devil and sin needs to be destroyed(not in hell forever) for these things to be able to happen

I sometimes explain it this way: imagine a person on the third floor of a burning building to whom a fireman says, “Please jump from the window, and we will catch you. You will have safety if you jump.” But the person says, “No, I don’t believe you” or “No, I don’t want to” and goes back into the blazing fire to die. Why would you get angry at the fireman? If someone doesn’t want to live eternally with God in the new heavens and new earth, God simply will grant them what they wanted, which is eternity apart from Him.

God sent many people to tell others about the gift of eternal life, and then finally He sent His own Son from paradise into “fire” (i.e. death on a cruel cross) to show people who didn’t want Him (and who killed Him) the way out of the “blaze” and into paradise. Yet people still refuse this unfathomably generous gift (see Mark 12:1-12)

No greater crime has ever been committed than to deny the existence of the Creator of all things or to not worship Him with obedient faith. We have all broken His moral laws written on our hearts and in His Word, and we have done so uncountable times. Such unbelief is inexcusable rebellion and treason against the King of heaven and earth, who has given overwhelming evidence of His existence and nature through His creation and through our conscience (Romans 1:18-20, 2:14-15). Our sin is against the highest Being and, therefore, is the greatest crime. That is worthy of the severest punishment.

Great question by the way, hope this helps.

God does not send people to hell not in the sense you mean.
Why would a "God who is love" torture someone his creations forever in a burning hell. It says when you die your sins are payed. The tablet is clear. Please read the bible more clearly and you will see that people cease to exist. Heaven is not a place we go it was not intended for humans or that is where we would have been.

The real question is, why heaven?

Life is a test. That's for sure. But we don't pass the test, we fail miserably. Hell is the just punishment of a righteous God of dirty sinners, like me and you. Heaven is not deserved, it is not earned.. by anything but the act of Christ on the cross on our behalf. Check out the source, it answers your question perfectly!

Christians believe that God gave us the gift of free will. We can choose to live a good and humble life and try as hard as we can to be fair and just and live God's teachings, or we can choose not to live our lives this way and give in to the Devil's temptation. It is not because God isn't loving and merciful it is because he gave us the choice to live either a good or an evil life and this will determine our fate.

God is Holy. God is not petty. God gave man a choice in the garden , choose to obey or not. Man chose his way. God said the result of man's disobedience would be death. Where man spends eternity is man's choice .

One thing about God, is He is VERY FAIR. You have FREE WILL , you CHOOSE where you will be in eternity.

If you think of hell as eternal separation from God, then God doesn't "send" you there - he just allows you to choose it. He loves you so much, that he won't force you to be with him if you don't want to be.

"If you love something, let it go."
