In my eye prescription, it says my OD - CYL is -.25. For my OS - CYL it says "sph". What does that mean? Does that mean it's the same as my OS - SPH, which is -2.25? I don't understand eye presrcriptions! Please help!

OD=ocular distal or right eye
OS=ocular sinister or left eye
SPH=sphere power
CYL= cylinder power or astigmatism

If you see the "sph" in the "cyl" box, that means you have no astigmatic correction in that particular eye.

Hope that answers your question.

It means you only need sph power No you don't have a cyl or axis. However if prescription is higher than -100 or +100 you should give a PD. PD is distance between pupils in MMeters Any optician can measure in seconds or even a friend if you have or buy a mm ruler
