Keep a list? Rely on memory? Reminders from other people? How do you know who to thank, once all the wrapping paper and gift tags are off the presents?

I usually put the gift tag back in the box with the gift. If it is not in a box just stick the tag on the object until you get it home. Then you can make a list and send out your thank you's.

I guess it depends on your reason/purpose for keeping track...if you're in a situation where your WANT to keep track of gifts U rec'd @ a particular function to send thank you's or whatever - make a mental note & then write down @ the end of the evening who gave what...maybe as the first thing U do when when you get to your car, etc @ the end of the event, etc.

Open your gifts slowly and methodically. If they come with a gift tag, use a cellophane tape to tape it to the opened gift and put it aside, then open the next gift, sticking the name of the giver on it, put it aside and then open the next. Make sure all gifts are identified with their givers one by one as they are opened. Then go back to the first gift and write the nature of the gift on the gift tag ie "socks" or "mug" to link it with the giver, then you will know how to thank them for their gifts, otherwise you will not know what they gave you.

When I was a kid and we opened our presents, my mom kept a little notebook. Before we opened the present, she'd ask us to say who it was from and then she'd write down what it was. Now that I'm an adult, I keep the same practice. I pull out a little notepad, write down the giver's name and what they gave. It takes a little self-control and you can't just tear into presents like a maniac, but it makes it easy to keep track of everything.

I wish I got that many gifts that I needed to keep track of who gave me what to thank them....... But I get very few. However, I can remember who gave me what even after years, for this same reason (not too many things/givers to remember about).

Keep my I-Phone by my side with a note open and make a list! Since it is my phone it is unobtrusive. Make sure to send Thank-You cards!

you can either keep a list or use memory, but if it fails you... try writing thank you cards (written not typed) with something like "thank you for your thoughtful gift." yada yada
