That is a great idea!!!!! usually from rescues they are about $20 to reimburse the rescue for all the medical care and all the maintenance care so $20 is pretty reasonable.

If you have any questions on your guinea pig feel free to ask me. 3 websites I think you should look at are:

www.guinealynx.com

Hope those links could be of additional help to make sure your guinea pig is comfortable when he arrives in your new home!

Congrats and I applaud you for saving a guinea pig!

That's a GREAT idea! While there is nothing wrong with buying a guinea pig from a petstore, it is much better to adopt! And the price is a HUGE difference as well! Normally, guinea pigs at petstores will go for about 20-30$, and guinea pigs at rescue shelters will go for about 6-12$. You're making a great decision!

Hope this helps!
Good luck!

think this is the best idea you can have as there are loads of unwanted guinea pigs in rescue centres through no fault of their own and would love a good home. Also guinea pigs from rescue centres are properly vet checked so are far less likely to come to you with any infections. plus you will be sure that that the ones already housed in a pair get along and are not mis- sexed as this happens in petstores. Good luck and enjoy your pigs.

I think its a great idea to get it from a rescue! They are usually a lot healthier and the people know a lot more than at pet stores. Here is a website for a guinea pig rescue.

Most rescue guinea pigs run between $25 and $30. However, many rescues give you a discount is you buy a bonded pair.

They cost about $20-$30. I think its a wonderful idea that your getting a guinea pig from a shelter.

I'm getting another guinea pig today and I'm getting him from a person whose guinea pigs had babies...

That's a wondeful idea!

It's awful that people think nothing of buying animals from pet stores (breeders) while thousands of animal suffer and die in shelters every year.

You can look for guinea pig shelters on petfinder.com, but we got our two of our piggies from just a "regular" animal shelter, so you'll definitely want to visit there (or call ahead to save some time)

guinea pig rescues will not charge if they are a charity - they will request a donation of your choice.

Yes, it's a great idea. I'd guess the adoption fees would depend on where you live, which rescue you go to etc.
