I have 2 different types of roller brush
1] is a foam /sponge type
2] is like a wool/synthetic wool type
Is one type for applying paint with
and the other type for applying emulsion with
if so which one is which please?
im not Such a keen D.I.Y painter and decorater as you can
probably tell

the foam one is for fine paints such as undercoat/gloss say if you want to gloss doors etc, the wool one is for emulsions, medium pile is about all you need ! you can get deep piled ones for painting the exterior for instance, where the surface is not so even ! hope this answers your question ? happy painting !

the sponge type is for 1 applying either oil based paints to a large area or 2 is used for flat walls the wool type is for emulsion paints and raised walls ie artex or a heavy embossed paper. both can be used for emulsion paint.

The foam is for oil based paints (undercoat and gloss)
The wool is for water based paints (matt or silk emulsion)

Your brush 1 is for glossing, woodwork etc.
Your brush 2 is for your emulsion (walls).
You're leaving this late if she wants it pre Xmas, best of luck!!
