If someone else can hear it, then it's too loud. Common sense applies, not rights.

It varies with the city ordinances.

Where I live in Evansville Indiana, if I am on the public highway and I stop at a traffic light, and I can hear music coming from the car next to me, that auto is in violation of the law.

With dwelling places, if anyone outside the apartment can hear the stuff, it is in violation of law.

You have no "sound rights" beyond the ceiling, walls, and floor of your apartment. If you are playing loud music when nobody else is at home, nobody cares, but, when they are at home, they are entitled to peace and quiet. I never expected total silence when I was in an apartment, but the downstairs neighbours whose stereo was louder in my living room than my tv was were kicked out unceremoniously. I asked them nicely on 3 occasions to cool it a little, and the caretaker asked them twice. The landlady didn't ask them, she told them in no uncertain terms they had 30 days to get out.

I was in Geneva many years ago. You were expected to be silent as of 10 pm. That meant soft talking, soft radio, walking in soft slippers or socks, no sound to be heard outside your apartment. If you flushed the toilet you could be reported.

Your sound rights should fall under the lease terms of your apartment. You should have recieved a copy rules for the apartment you are renting. If you dont know, ask your landlord. If they dont care which would be unlikely, then it would likely fall under the ordinance of the city or town that you live in.

if they shake the place then thats probably over the limit already. i lived in a two bed apartment and i barely have my music loud and managers is complaining already but yeah rock on and dont let them bother u hahaha just stop playing if their complaining but if you play it in the morning then there shouldnt be anything to worry about cause its morning but i would stop it around nightime like around 8 cuz people sleep at that time

your neighbors have a right to quiet enjoyment of their place, same as you do.

look up renter's law info in the excellent books at nolo.com, which are often in libraries too.

Why can't you have fun without ruining your neighbor's lives? Maybe they don't want to listen to your music. Maybe they like to pick their own music. Have you ever thought of that? How would you like it if they rammed their music down your throat? Why can't you get a pair of earphones?

Your "rights"? What about your roomates rights? What about the neighbors rights? . If it bugs your roomate, it is too loud. If it bugs the neighbors, you should be arrested.

check local laws under noise abatement codes.
all codes written have a noise abatement law(s) and all are different as night and day, cars and audio systems etc..
