Being in the military is not like being in prison you do not become institutionalized like criminals do. In the military you do have a life other than just working.

The vast majority of soldiers have no problems.

While it is true that a higher pecentage of veterans are homeless compared to the general population, a higher percentage of veterans also own their own homes as compared to the general population.

What this shows is that Veterans generally fall into the extremes. In general, if a person has a successful career, they generally do well in the outside world, if they failed in the military, they often fail in the outside world as well.

The reasons for failing could be a personality disorder, poor planning, sadly...and injury, or just gave up. If a person failed in the military, its often because they gave up. Thats hard to overcome for anyone. It can be harder as mentioned above if their behavior resulted in dischage of other then honorable or less then honorable. In those cases, those are self inflicted problems.

The final reason is just bad luck... it happens to all of us, some of us get it worse.

Depends on the type of discharge. If you get dishonorable u can never get a gov job at any level and lots of other businesses wont hire you neither.

One problem is if they got discharged from the Army before there time was up or how ever long they signed up for, they didn't get their bonus or had to pay their bonus back. Or if they got injured in combat and was discharged...they don't get their sign on bonus. That's the was it is now since the Bush Administration has it
