I have heard that lower resolutions are better when you are sitting closer to your TV. I am currently running 1080i with xbox 360 games but I am thinking of using 720p after hearing about better appearance when sitting closer. What do you think?

I'm actually using a 32" capable of both 720p and 1080i but I use it for close up gaming. It's a sony bravia.

Use the 720P mode, your circles won't look as jaggy as it does with Interlace....
Interlace is better for High speed action sequences because it delivers 60 Half frames instead of 30 Full frames....
"THE BRAIN" fills in and smooths out the picture.

hey,no its not true.If you're using a standard HD ready tv(720p),the closer u are to the tv,the more blur the picture will be.Its actually the size of the tv.If youre using a 720p tv less than a 40 inch, colour saturation becomes better and it will be clearer to watch from a closer distance. If u choose the 1080p to be watch at a closer distance, anything beyond 40inch and less than 50 inch should be great for close up gaming or even normal tv's.It will be very clear and sharp.Bear in mind that distance is not a matter, the bigger the size of the tv,eventhough it is 50inch and display a resolution of 720p,colour saturation is bad.Pixels get enlarged so much more to fill up the 50inch LCD.Opt for at least a 32incher or 37 incher 720p tv if u want to play at a close up range.

No matter what you send, it is scaled/deinterlaced as needed to fit your screen's resolution. It has nothing to do with how far you sit.
In other words, if your TV is 720p, you always see "720p" even when you send 1080i.
The question is, which device does a better job in deinterlacing? The xbox360 or the TV. Without some test patterns or scenes, it is tough to tell. But do try both and see which you like best.

relies upon on the sign and the television showing it. 720p is greater effectual for issues with extreme quantities of circulate because of the fact all lines are displayed on an analogous time the place as 1080i is interlaced, so merely another line is shown at one time.

1080i or better yet, 1080p, is better because with higher resolution, you don't start seeing the pixels at the same distance as you would with 720p.

holy crap, its the exact opposite. The more pixels, the less space between them, thus the more realistic and complete the picture is when closer. Use the native resolution of your TV when playing video games.
I reccomend using 1080 if its your TV's native resolution.
