my ex and I argued alot. we were never on the same page. we didnt compliment eachother where it mattered. we dated over 2 years and were friends for a year before that. but i loved him. and we almost got engaged. he got freaked out and after about 6 months of him not being sure- i moved on. now im dating someone else. im happy about it. but everytime i talk to my ex i get sad. or mad. just all these emotions at once. he wants to get back together but i know its not best. why does it hurt so bad? i feel like i lost my best friend. its painful.

Just cry when you feel that way and stay away from your ex. Sooner or later you will start having fond memories instead of sad or mad thoughts about him. The reasoning you used for moving on sure makes good sense to me. As unfair as it may seem certain couples just can not function together. I think you both gave it a fair amount of time to work and it just didn`t. The pain will leave. Move on.

Music really helps. Check out A Fine Frezy, i love thems so much! Best lyrics ever for breakups. Almost Lover, Ashes and Wine, Liar Liar, and Last of Days are beautiful songs.

Breaking up is hard to do. Just be glad you didn't get married like I did. It's even more painful. Time does help, but I think a new significant other is the bigger help in putting the other person in your rear view mirror. Hang in there.
