You don't connect your PC and PS3 directly, but only via router (actually you can, but only if your PC is equipped with serious ethernet card). As you've mentioned - you have wi-fi at home. All PS3's can use wi-fi (except long gone 20GB). Just go to Network Settings, choose New Connection -> wireless and follow the instructions.

Hey man dont do it your way,it will miss up everything just do this.

First take your Ethernet cable and hook it up to your computer's modem,or hook it into an Ethernet port in the wall somewhere. To me it was just easier to get a wireless router, and you don't need to do anything with that just change the settings on your PS3 to wireless (with a router) or wired (with an EtheFPRIVATE "TYPE=PICT;ALT=waldo6877's

Do you have a router? If so, connect the PS3 into the router, not the computer.

Can I have a bit more information? What type of PS3 do you have? Is it Wi-Fi capable?

I've never heard of what your doing. Sorry, but i do know the easiest way to get internet on ps3 is to hook it up to a modem or a router and there you go. Good luck.
