Try going to your local WalMart and buy yourself a cheap pair of rubber sandals to wear in the shower. You really shouldn't be showering without them in a public gym. It's most-likely atheletes foot but I'm not a doctor.

Athletes foot is a fungal infection of the feet, and is easily picked up from public showers.
Another common infection of the skin of the feet is pitted keratolysis. This is a bacterial infection which makes the pressure points of your feet go white and mushy, and often develop little pits. It tends to make your feet smell bad, too.

If it's tinea, the best treatment is terbinafine cream (e.g. Lamisil) which you can buy over the counter from the pharmacy. Clotrimazole and other antifungal creams also work well.
The best treatment for pitted keratolysis is the use of an antibiotic ointment. You would need a prescription for this.

Ugh.. .a gym is the nastiest place ever. Especially the showers... germs abound, and a good place to get a fungus. Never shower with out footwear like thongs or shower shoes. And use an anti-bacterial shower gel. Even if you use your own towels, make sure they are clean everytime and be very careful where you put them while you are showering.
Or better yet.. .just quit showering at the gym.
Go home.

It sounds to me like you have athletes foot! I had athletes foot a few years ago which was so annoying, and I couldn't figure out what it was from! Turns out, that it was from a week or 2 before, when I stayed at a camp. it was because i didnt wear sandles into the shower, come to find out. so thats my suggestion to you. wear sandles/flip flops when you take a shower in a public shower! =]

It probably is some kind of fungus like athlete's foot.
Get some Lamasil from the drug store or Wal-mart. It works well for me.
