I haven't spoken to him since August. I haven't seen him since March. Every couple weeks or so I get a text message from him in the middle of the night, but I never respond. He and I have been through this cycle several times. We have been broken up for 2 years.
Every time I tell him I don't want to talk to him again, he still continues. The last time I talked to him, I told him I didn't have any desire to be his friend.
He does the same thing to another old flame of his. She and I talked about it recently.

Help!
I don't want to change my number or get a restraining order. I don't need that hassle. He's not threatening. The messages are always a simple, "Hey" or "Can we be friends?"

Part 2 of this:

AT&T can't block numbers from texting.
I'd really like to solve this problem without having to change my number or asking for a restraining order.

I also only responded to him in August to ask him to stop. I haven't responded since.

DON'T ANSWER!!! Please understand what you are doing - you are rewarding his harassment! "Every time I tell him I don't want to talk to him again, he still continues." Yes - he continues, because you ARE talking to him. It is rewarding him even to say "No no", just as little kids act up to get attention. Just DON'T talk to him - you have already SAID that, now DO it. Do not waver! It may not be threatening, but it is NOT healthy. I would recommend changing your number.

The first thing to do is stop answering. If you don't want to talk to him, why do you talk to him? The next thing is to block his number. Simple really. It isn't a hassle and you don't have to worry about it anymore. You are the one who is prolonging this by responding all the time. If you want him to stop, simply stop responding to him. If he sends a message every two weeks and after two or three months never, ever gets a response, he is eventually going to stop. By continuing to respond, you encourage him to keep trying.

Just get your cell phone provider to block his text and number.
