Is there a reason for my very disturbing dream?

A couple of night ago i had a very disturbing dream, i have not had a "nightmare" for years now and this one is the only one that has ever affected me so much. It went something like this:

It seemed to start with me floating down from the ceiling into a very open structure, similiar to an empty warehouse. I could not see me, it was as if i was actually there, looking through my own eyes, only difference was it seemed slightly hazzy or out of focus around the edges of my vision.
As i continued to float from the ceiling down through the "Warehouse" it seemed like i was swept of into a different part of the open space, and filling my vision was the sight of a very sharp knife cutting through some sort of "flesh". I could see the hand on the knife and another hand steadying the peice of "flesh", whilst i was seeing this i started to hear a woman's moan.
I began to feel like i was starting to back up, as if i was floating back uptowards the ceiling ....................................

at a slight angle, in an effort to see more. As i started to float back my vision began to fill with a horrifying veiw.
There was a woman led on a table/workbench in the middle of this open room, this woman was laying on her back and her stomach was cut open and all her inside's were haning over the edge, but she was still alive and moaning. Around her were 2 men, one of them was near her head holding her shoulder down on the table so she couldn't move and the over one was standing over her on the table with a knife in his hand.
The man standing over her knelt down over her chest and began to have sex with the womans insides, the woman was moaning but i dont know if it was in pain or in pleasure, i felt so helpless and scared and utterly terrified. As he continued to have sex with her insides it felt like i was shoved closer to what was going on and i could see his "Privates" entering in and out of her, the man seemed to be smiling and both of them seemed to be enjoying this.........

The man continued to cut her whilst he was "rapeing" her and they both seem to be laughing and i think i remeber the woman crying and looking at me.
I had the feeling that i wanted to run but i couldn't, this poor woman was being so brutaly treated and diseceted and i couldn't do anything, as if the "floating" sensation was stopping me. I woke up and i had a terrible sweat and was feeling really anxious and frightened.

This dream has started to affect my thoughts, even at work i think about it and it starts to get to me. I felt funny just typing it.

I want to know if this means something? or is it something about me? because if so i am really worried.

p.s. I didn't watch any horror movies or disturbing images etc before i went to bed.

It's probably you watching a bad horror movie and when you sleep you could just feel the horror of the movie and had a nightmare.

Think about what is going on in your life right now, sexual or otherwise. Did you witness something terrible (in real life) like an accident or a rape? Was a good friend of yours or yourself attacked or hurt (the first thing you see is flesh being cut, which leads me to ask that question). I am concerned that this dream is affecting your life. You should talk to a professional therapist about this. I checked out www.dreamdoctor.com and they listed a dream where a woman was on a table with her stomach open and being examined. It wasn't as graphic or as frightening as your dream, but the site says that being examined is metaphorical for being judged and examined in real life. Do you or a close friend of yours have a secret or something you are scared to reveal that is sexual or otherwise in nature? I think (and I'm not a professional, this is just my opinion) that you or a close friend has something "buried inside" that you/friend is afraid to let come to light. It has or you are afraid it will suddenly be ripped from you (cut open and exposed) and somebody took/will take perverse pleasure in this. Remember, I am no professional and I am only guessing. If this dream is bothering you so much, please seek help. Especially if there is something sinister or scary going on in your real life.

You didn't watch any horror movie before you went to bed, but you could have watch them somewhere else... And maybe some horror movie(s) left a deep impression in you that you start visualising them...

But usually we don't remember dreams that clearly unless it really leave a deep impression in you...

Probably you have a terrifying or terrible thing that happened to you recently that's why you're having this kind of dream... Or you're just simply too stress...

No point thinking too much about it because it not only affects you mentally but physically too... Besides, since it's a dream and it had already happened and you can do nothing about it, just let it rest deep inside your memories and never awaken them again...

This is what I felt when I read this. You may feel like you are facing a crisis, something that may or may not involve you, possibly that you simply are winessing something, something that you object to but feel helpless to change what's happening (the floating, fuzzy, hard to focus). I think that maybe this is something very personal, like a moral violation, and something like a lot of pressure (the two men overpowering her) like a pressing issue, should you say something, choose to change something, or step in to help a desparate person in crisis. The table/workbench to me would signify personal works or endevors both at work and home and the woman in trouble on the table is a plea. Additionally the two men signify a personal challenge to you as a good samaritan. The wound in the stomach is symbollic of a vulnerability as the stomach is often the subject of pains especially to some of us. Sex is a very personal thing and the act portrayed shows a violation of trust and possibly that someone had ganged up on the victim in question. The empty warehouse would suggest a feeling of isolation from others during these personal attacks from the problems at hand. The fact that you feel "shoved closer and able to see his pr******..." ect. would suggest once again that you have been dragged into this conflict where you are forced to act and it is not a matter of personal choice (being pulled towards something) but more of obligation. The explicit manner of display after you were pulled towards the conflict shows that proper conduct was violated directly between you and the antagonist, rudeness, vulgarity, personal boundaries have been breached. To me it almost suggests that you are in a situation where you are uncomfortable like; sexual harrassment, cornered by a creepy person, or feeling like you have to go and save people in distress. If you aren't being stressed by some sort of situation or person maybe it is simply that you want to reach out and help others. Maybe you would like to join the Peace Corps or become a Dr.? Wow, that was a really vivid retelling of the dream. Are you watching on in your life as someone is being metaphorically raped? Or are you the woman, do you feel vulnerable? Don't let it disturb you too much, it's just your mind trying to relay a message to you. When I feel 'violated' in life, I have dreams of being trapped in a house and thugs are breaking in to get me.

It is quite normal to have disturbing dreams when you are worried about coming out of the closet, once you have let everyone know you are Gay the dreams will stop.
