By going to Wal-Mart, weighing the bags on the produce scale that say 'three lbs.', and getting four plus pounds on certain bags of chicken breasts, and putting back the ones that weigh two-point five. The store manager hates me. He asked what I was doing, and I told him, "Putting back the ones that aren't up to snuff!" He then stalked off, pissed. (I dearly LOVE chicken breasts...)

I use the special card of the super market chain-which also gives you discounts on gas-10 cents off a gallon for every $50 that you spend. I use coupons a lot. And I try to spend wisely. We don't buy in bulk-sometimes paper towels or toilet tissue-
and I buy many store or generic brands instead of name brands. Also we really don't eat meat anymore or buy a lot of soda and junk food so that saves a lot.

First off you buy store brand products. Second, get your local newspaper, and it has coupons in it, and also get your local store newspaper which also has coupons. Then, go to a store like Shaws, who has the Shaws rewards card or whatever it's called, and that saves you on average of 20-40$ per shopping trip and it doesn't cost a thing. Oh, and don't buy lots of wine :)

I could give you suggestions like coupons, and off brands, and seasonal items, but one thing I've learned through the years is to NEVER shop for groceries on an empty stomach!!

Shop the loss leaders in the weekly ads. If it is something I use I stock up on it.

I also hold coupons waiting for the item to come on sale and then stock up on it.

buy the cheaper brands and get one of those cards that let you save a few cents with your purchases.
you can also shop at the stores that sell food in bulk.
