Quotas are constitutionally illegal and do not exist.

Officers do not like them either, and no police union would allow them.

On my brother's department the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department, regular officers are expected to write one ticket a day. "A greenie a day, keeps the sergeant away."

Motorcycle officers are expected to write one ticket per hour. The parking enforcement officers for Los Angeles Police Department are expected to write 50 parking tickets a day. They are not called "quotas" in California. Quotas are outlawed in California. But if you call them "standards,' which is what parking enforcement calls them, they are totally legal.

most departments don't have a "quota" per se. But they DO track averages. Money talks after all. And stopping rapists and murderers just doesn't pay the bills. But sitting around the safe lilly white suburbs citing soccer mom's in their BMW's? Now you're onto something!

case in point: a true story;.i was out of my car (1970) and had my red light going, assisting a motorist with a flat tire. a drunk plowed right into my patrol car. Law Enforcement did a study, we changed to blue lights because drunks are attracted to red??? yes he was booked on dui.

not officially,.....but the officers get together, and they all put in some money at the first of every month,.....and then a prize is bought,.....and the officer who gives out the most tickets gets the prize,.....some times it is a toaster,.....if you believe me, you are gullible,.....officers can give out as many tickets as they want,.....there is no quota,.....
