I was reluctant to go see this movie due to the fact that because it came from Hollywood, I thought it would be an inaccurate portrayal of the real life event. (They always are) I agree that some things were added to dramatize satan, but it made you really realize the weight of what was happening. When Jesus was being scourged, I started bawling. It really hit home all the pain and suffering that He indured just so that we could have a relationship with Father God. He was the ultimate sacrifice that forever bridged the gap between God and us. The blood and gore really put you at the scene of the crime so to speak, but in order to appreciate and be truly thankful for what Christ really did, it was necessary. I commend Mel Gibson for the guts it took to produce the movie. Satan is real and his goal is to steal kill and destroy humans because he is jealous of the relationship we can have with God. He had a chance and blew it, so now, he is doing what he can to prevent us from it. It is our responsibilty to live so that Christ can be shown to the world. I am happy that someone finally took a stand in Hollywood and made a film that somewhat explained all that Jesus did. But really, we weren't there, and there was so much more than that.

I'm against the movie because NO sinful human has the right to portray Jesus Christ! Christ was perfect - sinless and He is also God. Nobody has any right to take on that role because it's unbiblical (Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: ) and secondly, it's Hollywood's/Mel Gibson's version of Christ's crucifixion. He's a Roman Catholic, so naturally, he was telling the story according to the Roman Catholic bible - NOT the true bible. Hollywood has the ability to twist and distort the truth, deviating away from what really happened, so I don't take Passion of the Christ to be accurate. Of course, it shows the crucifixion and such, but I don't believe it's accurate. I haven't seen the movie, but again, I won't see it for the reasons I mentioned above. I don't have to see it, though, to know that Hollywood doesn't hold true to real-life stories.

I'm a christian and attend a Babtist church, This movie really opened my eyes and made me relize the pain and suffering that Jesus went through to save us. I knew the story by heart from many years of sunday school and childrens church, but never did I relize how much pain was involved.
It has made me far more thankful for what Jesus did for me.
There is not alot of people out there who would endure that much pain or suffering, let alone risk their lives for someone that they never met.
The movie wasn't 100% accurate, but was very close.
One of my all time favorites.

I love to tell this story. Keep in mind that I am not commenting on the movie itself, Christianity, religion any of that. I just find this situation to be funny.
So I am watching this in the theatre and its sold out, about 200 or so seats. I'm watching it with my parents, grandmother, aunt, all very religious and active in their church community. (I'm not) We get towards the end of the movie and Jesus is on the cross, and the soldier stabs him in the side with the spear, and its very graphic. The woman in the seat behind me exclaims "Oh, Jesus Christ", a common expression of shock. I almost burst out laughing in a packed theatre. It was hilarious.

well, if ya like a good holy snuff flick "the Passion of the Christ" is definitely the sacred torture porn to watch.
yep ... slap in that DVD and have the kiddies watch Jesus get ripped to shreds, more blood and gore than a Wes Craven movie. cool! put more popcorn in the microwave and let's watch the scourging again but in slow mo. the crows ripping out eyeballs is a nice touch. very artsy.

It was a great movie. What disturbed me was; Alot of people began to say things like: "Ok you saw the movie, now read the book". I have no problem with that statement in itself. But its just the attitude. I mean I think people should be extremely greatful when Hollywood decides to do a movie that can be benificial. I mean they always complain about how Hollywood makes these gruesome movies, and when they make a good one: They still complain? They do! Just indirectly. The Book is far more important. The Book meaning the Word of God. But When people of high popularity decide to do something based on the word of God, Its wonderful! I enjoyed the movie.

Bad movie, absurd belief system. The biggest crime? The movie was BORING. How do you know it was accurate? Were you THERE? Only ignorant peole who believe fiction is reality could be affected by this movie. I am SO glad I watched a friend's bootleg copy and never put a dime toward making this movie succeed.

Just made me realize how sick Hollywood really is. it was just a movie that made money off of another persons suffering. I watched a part of it with a few friends. I think that the people who paid to watch it are the same as the ones who made it. promoting violence in the worst way, using religion.

It was a snuff film. Too gory, honestly to me it's just another hack and slash movie, romantized by a 2000 years old story...
Sorry, it made me noxious, and i agree, underaged should never see this film.

That film explains the pain and blood required by ancient religious rites, without even letting us understand the language used.
