Does anyone know if you can have hypothyroidism and still join the Army Special Forces? I know Im not disqualified for service because I have been controlled for more than a year. I guess my main concern is that there may be some further medical requirements that are not outlined in AR 40-501. Any input would be great!

If your hypothyroidism is controlled by medication, then you are fit entry into the armed forces {AR40-501, para. 2-8 (h) (2)}. If it isn't controlled by medication, it's disqualifying.
Paragraph 5-3 of that same regulation deals with the requirements for special forces and, under endocrine diseases and conditions, refers you back to AR 40-501, para. 2-8.
Given that, it appears that, as far as your hypothyroidism is concerned, if you meet the qualifications for initial entry you meet the qualifications for special forces.
Chapter Five of AR 40-501 deals with the physical standards for all types of special assignments like special forces, rangers and the like.
Hope this helps.

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that sits low on the front of the neck. Your thyroid lies below your Adam’s apple, along the front of the windpipe. The thyroid has two side lobes, connected by a bridge (isthmus) in the middle. When the thyroid is its normal size, you’re unlikely to be able to feel it.
All types of hyperthyroidism are due to overproduction of thyroid hormones, but the condition can develop in several ways.
Thyroid hormone production can be suppressed or halted completely in these ways: https://tr.im/B4KYK

probably depends on the severity of the condition, they'd most likely be concerned about your irregular metabolism and energy level. If you don't need regular medication, your chances are better.
