I am puzzled coz Ellen White of the Seventh Day Adventist say she was a prophet, but in Luke 16:16 it tells that the last prophet was John the Baptist. The Catholics say that the Pope is infallible or speaking the truth. In the bible, there is no mention about the Pope but an Apostle. There is mention that in the last days, false preachers will come out to deceive many. Can anyone enlighten me? So that we will not be deceive.

The truth is self evident.

Those that preach hate, will lead you to hate.

Those that preach love, will lead you to love.

Those that preach war, will lead you to war.

Those that preach peace, will lead you to peace.

Those that preach vengence, will lead you to vengence.

Those that preach forgiveness, will lead you to forgiveness.

Those who judge, will lead you to judgement.

It is simple to see the divine love of God when it shines forth.

Look for words of love, peace, forgiveness without judgement and you will see one who speaks the words of God.

Those who preach hate, war, vengence and judge their follow man are but wolves in sheeps clothing.

Beware of any who do not preach the Divine love.

Blessings and peace to all,
All in all,
B

You are mistaken if you think that the Bible states that John was the last prophet. When Jesus states that the law and the prophets were until John he is saying that all that had been written in the law and the prophets ruled over God's people until John.

The book of Acts and Paul's epistles are full of referrences to prophets who came after John.

Here is something Jesus said,

Matthew 10: 40-41 ( NKJV )

40 “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. 41 He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward."

Here is another.

Matthew 23:34-35 (New King James Version)

34 Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, 35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

One from the book of Acts,

32 Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words.

Here is a link with plenty of new testament referrences:

As for the answer to your question, the Holy Spirit is the the only true teacher. Organized religions are easy targets and tend to allow a lie or two for some reason. Most bow to Rome's authority and much of Rome's false teaching even though they speak evil of Rome.

Take your Bible to your prayer closet and study while praying for truth. Look to the Holy Spirit for truth and you will find it.

Anyone that preaches you have to be born again to enter heaven is a true preacher. It also says in the Bible that we will have apostles, prophets, evangelists, preachers and teachers (five-fold ministry is what they call it now) When you hear someone teaching that you have to be a follower of Christ and that is the only way to God they are teaching correctly. No one church is the true church, His followers and believers are the true church, the Body of Christ.

As a Catholic, and one who is not particularly good at explaining things... here's my attempt...

Jesus said "Peter, you are my rock and on this rock I build MY church" -- not 'a church' or 'some church' but HIS church. So Peter was the BEGINNING of God's church here on earth. IF Peter did not name a successor, then Jesus's church would END with Peter's death.

Secondily, Jesus promised his disciples that his Church on Earth would never be destroyed. -- I don't have the verses, but I'm sure someone could point them to you.

Anyways...
Jesus can not be associated with false teachings. --he's perfect after all. -- So since Jesus started his Church with Peter, then Peter could not teach falsehoods or else God's church on earth would be based on lies. Since Jesus promised his church on Earth would NEVER be destroyed (though it SURE has come under attack), then it would forever be teaching falsehoods UNLESS Jesus some how protected its leaders from making mistakes and leading HIS people astray.
Plus, why would he make a promise and want to protect a church on Earth that is spreading false teachings??? That just doesn't make sense.

You probably see where I am going with this by now....

If Jesus's church will never be destroyed...
Peter had to name a successor before he died AND this sucessor continued Jesus's Church.. and Jesus isn't going to be the head of a church which leads people down the wrong path..so this sucessor ALSO had to spread only teach TRUTHS

We're using mostly logic at this point based on 2 things that Jesus said... (wish I could quote specific verses)

NO man is PERFECT, so Jesus had to somehow "protect" this leader from making human mistakes.

So, any church that could link directly back to Peter would then, by logic, both be Jesus's church on Earth AND be infallible when it comes to matters of faith.

My understadning is that the Catholic church is the only church which can rightfully lay claim to an unbroken link back to Peter and thus the only church which can rightfully be founded by Jesus, before he died.

SO although you are correct that the Bible doesn't contain the word "POPE" -- you can see the biblical BASIS for the Catholics teaching that the pope is infallible when it comes to teaching religion. (He might be wrong about what the best Icecream flavor is, or who's gonna win the World Series, but those aren't matters of faith)

The Catholic church does not claim to have any "prophets"
Prophets herald the coming of Jesus.. Jesus has already come, thus the time for prophets is OVER.. we now HAVE Jesus's teachings and his Church, so we don't have a need for prophets, true or otherwise.

I googled POPE and it a variation of the greek word "papas" which means "father" The Bible mentions the word 'father' quite a bit both to mean God AND to mean a leader or respected elder.
In that context the head of God's church on Earth is a 'father figure' or one we look to for religious guidance.

One scripture everyone knows and very few accept as fact is love thy neighbour. That means everybody even Muslim terrorists that killed your baby daughter 5 minutes ago. There are only one religious organisation in the world that would not retaliate and they are those pesky Jehovah's Witnesses that knock on your door on Sunday morning when you want to get over your hangover just to save you.

Well, look at Jesus prophecy in Matthew 24:14 about the global preaching work that his followers would do before the end of this system of things and ask yourself what group of people is known worldwide ... mocked, jailed and even killed .. for doing it.

Read the bible and believe what it says, you should use the bible as the standard to compare everything else to. It is the word of God and it will not change. His word is dependable and sure.

IMHO The best preachers are not the ones whose congregations leave Church talking about how great their pastor is, but the ones whose congregations leave Church talking about how great their God is.
