Think of how it must have been while in the womb.
You had NO idea there was even another world outside of your known existence, yet sure enough, there was one.
Do you think if you had heard voices inside the womb speaking to you about what you could look forward to after you were born, you would believe them, much less understand them?
Of course not, just as it is with the next phase of our eternal existence.

The fact that we only use a small percentage of our brain for example shows me that we are made to learn a lot more than what we could in just one short lifespan. Scientists can't work out why we grow old and die. It is programmed. But soon this barrier will be removed and we can live forever.

I really don't think too much about it here and know because I don't need to. When the time comes, I'm sure I'll figure it out like I've done with everything else this far in life.
I try to focus on the things that matter here and now, like being good, kind, patient, helpful. Try to be a role model, try to think of WWJD; try to not give in to my temptations that I struggle with.

An interesting thing about human nature is that it feels unnatural to grow old, put up with many illnesses, and then die. We each have inside of us an amazing willpower to want to live. God's first intention when creating man was to have him live forever on a paradise earth (Adam and Eve). So when God decides it is time, that is again what will happen for those living by His principals :-)

Heb. 11:13-16
13All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.
14People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.
15If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.
16Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Yes, it is hard to believe in eternal life. Belief is a gift of faith. We have no way of proving it here. There is support for belief, in the Bible and the teaching of the Church.
May the Holy Spirit support and strengthen you in your time of question and doubt.

Instead of "life," think of it as "love."
So when Jesus says he came so that we might have life, and have it more abundantly, imagine he meant love.
God is love, and Jesus came so that we might understand that, and be a part of that love, forever.
If you know, feel and understand God's love, then it's not that big a leap to understand that we can and will be in the presence of that love for all eternity.
If you don't know God's love, then now is a good time to open your heart and mind, and let God's love work in your life.
Godspeed.

No I do not feel like this. God has promised us eternal life if we believe that Jesus died for our sins and repent. Ask God to forgive you and you can have eternal life also.

It sounds like you are doubting your faith. or do you really ave faith? To be truly saved you must Admit you are a sinner, Believe Jesus is God's Son and that he died on the cross to save you from your sin, and Confess your life to Him.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have EVERLASTING LIFE!" John 3:16
