Everyone knows women like men who are confident, and bold, and independent. But what about when they screw up and she's furious? Should they just stand there and get beaten up? Should they try to have a nuanced and reasonable discussion with someone who's running very high on emotion?

I know some people (like us women) can get pretty emotional when we're angry, but it doesnt last forever. Just try to be understanding and listen for a while.

If you take the time to step down from authority for a moment, and really understand why we're upset and really apologize, then you'd be surprised how much more we would admire you and you'll end up right back on top.

A real man will appologize with out worrying about losing power and authority. The very fact that he will appologize gives him power. You can not have a reasonable discussion when someone is on high emotion, so just cool it on that one. By the way a REAL man does not want to obtain power or authority in a relationship. A REAL man would want a partnership. Are you a REAL man?

It takes a real man to admit he's wrong rather than pout like a little child. Its called taking responsibility for your own actions. I'd rather be with a man who is able to admit he is wrong than act like he knows everything. Stop thinking of the relationship in terms of "have power and authority" and start with equality and understanding. Make sure your apology is from the heart, meaning no apololying. All you can do is speak your peace and if your relationship was meant to be then so be it.

It takes someone strong to admit they are wrong. I think you should boldly say that you were wrong and why you did what you did, how you should have handled it etc. and that you are sorry. You should let her beat you down if you deserve it, but she probably won't if you've already admitted you were wrong. She probably wants to beat "I'm sorry" out of you, and if you already said it... what else can she gain? Admitting you are wrong shouldn't cost you any authority or power, especially if you apoligize without her making you do it. Its a relationship, not a monarchy. People make mistakes. She will probably be understanding if she knows you are sincerely sorry.

Just be completely truthful, and don't bee cheezy. Don't get her stuff too, coz that would almost be insulting.
(to most women at least)
When you really want to apologise, MAKE her hear it, even if she's going all hysteical and mental.
Take anything she throws at you (not objects, mind you)
show her you're determined, and really sorry about what you've done.
Just make sure that she at least hears what you have to say. Sleep outside her house, in the snow if you have to, just don't give up like a wounded pup (that would be very un-manly)

"...without losing all power and authority..."???

WTF! First off... If you hold all the power and authority, that's not a healthy relationship. In a healthy relationship, both partners have EQUAL say. And if you're truely sorry and know your wrong, then just say so... only BOYS play these childish games.

If you are strong and confident, then you can admit when you are wrong. If you just say, "I'm sorry, I screwed up" you will not "loose power" in the relationship. It actually gives you more because it shows that you can stand up and admit your mistakes.

You need to MAN UP and tell her that you know you messed and that your sorry. What else can you do? You can't just sit there doing nothing while shes FURIOUS because of something YOU did.
CALL her right now and tell her.**

You'll thank me after.

I think if you have ALL powerand authority... it's not much of a relationship! She must put out well. Sounds like an all-physically attracted relationship.

That doesn't sound like a good thing... Grow up!

well a "real man" BETTER apologize otherwise she is going to CONTINUE to be furious, plus she will respect him for admitting to be wrong instead of being an arrogant jerk that can never admit to making a mistake or admit that he was being an @$$
