pecans, almonds, brazil nuts, peanuts, macadamia nuts whatever you like really. it depends on the recipe whatever you think will taste good.

Pecans would be a good substitute for walnuts, and vice versa.

It really depends what you are cooking. I make fudge this time of year and can't stand walnuts so I substitute pecans instead. It also depends on your taste.
