One of my Marine League guys - if I had to pick a father-figure, he would be one of 3 out of those guys. Cancer, inoperable.

As for the nurses - cookies!

I have been in the hospital during Christmas and I know how upsetting it can be. A visit can make all the difference in the world to someone stuck in the hospital!

I didn't think of doing something for my nurse at the time but that is a great idea!

I am grateful also, no one in the hospital. One year I did go to the hospital and ask the nurse if anyone on that floor did not have a visitor for Christmas and she pointed out an older lady that I got to talk to for awhile. I think this was the best Christmas I ever had.

Funny I should see this question... I'm actually answering it from my cellphone as my fiancé sleeps in her hospital bed next to me... the odds are better that I'd win the lottery without buying a ticket than her being discharged from the hospital in 4 days.

So, yeah, and I'm gonna be spending christmass with my fiancé... in the hospital.

And I can't afford to give any Yule gifts to the nurses or doctors... I'm poor... and while I'm at it... let me rant for a sec... unless you're sacrificing the gifts to Jesus, there's no such thing as a "christmass gift"... christmass is the celebration of the birth of jesus, go buy him a birthday cake... Yule is the celebration of loved ones (family, friends, etc.). I'm pagan and I celebrate both... yeah I celebrate the birth of Jesus, why shouldn't I celebrate the birth of the best role-model the world's ever seen?

Sorry, just a pet pieve of mine.

No luckily. My grandfather collapsed Christmas morning in 2003 and never came out of the hospital...have had enough of that.

I don't have anyone in, Thank God,,but it is a lovely idea for those who do to remember those who take care of our loved ones at this time of year....I will be remembering those who are in the hospital in my prayers...My DH was in there in August, he had four stents put in his heart and one of the nurses helped get him through with her wonderful sense of humor. Their job is sometimes a thankless one...so your idea just might lighten the load for some of them...if people take it to heart.

I am taking care of an old dog in congestive heart failure over the holiday. Does that count? Diapers and medication are involved. Does that make it on the same level or?

last year, mom was in the hospital. i think the sisters brought the nurses a plate of their fabulous cookies. i was jealous. i wanted a cookie. it was good, tho. everybody was in town that year, and it really didn't dampen our moods, other than the worrying about mom.

I might, it depends on my mood.

Edit: In the case that someone might misunderstand, I am kidding.
