Why would christians think atheists/agnostics not celebrate christmas or not want to here "Merry Christmas"?
Why should we care that they make it about their christ's birth when they don't care that it's really a pagan holiday? Can't everyone just enjoy a fun time of year in there own way?

Erika: Do presents come with the Winter Soltice? If so can we start giving presents for the Summer Soltice too?

You can see by some of the response that this won't go over well. They just can't accept the fact that someone doesn't want to be a Christian and actually can enjoy another religion than Christianity.

Have you read the repeated questions from various non-believers who are in an uproar because a Christian would wish them a "Merry Christmas"?

Many atheists (my husband included) wish people a Merry Christmas and like to hear it in response, but I've seen a lot of hate on this board from people saying they are offended.

Happy Winter Solstice :)

Edit: Yes, presents are exchanged on Winter Solstice. This tradition was started by ancient Romans celebrating their winter festival Saturnalia :)
I exchange presents with my husband & kids on Winter Solstice, then on Christmas Eve with my family & Christmas day with my in-laws - they are all Christian, so my kids are in a 2 religion household :)

Because Christmas is about Christ. If it were just a day for fun and games it would be called something else.
