I have a 2 year old Australian Cattle dog, and he is a character. He will put boxes on his head, dress up in clothes, jump into the pool at 3 in the moring then come get back in bed with you. One time he was in a realy deep sleep, and my kitten was licking him, and he twitched so much he fell of he bed. He is always running into walls/doors, when I open the garge door, he charges for it, and usually always hits his head on the door cause it isn't open enough for him.

He is a one of a kind dog, and he is hilarious. but no one ever believes me cause he is afraid of people. how can I get him to not be timid around other people, my belgian malinois LOVES people, but he jus tgoes and hides. I really need help especially since I have company coming for Christmas, and I don't wan him hiding and or barking/growling the entie time.

Ahhh, the world of ACDs. They are such clowns-and the smartest dog on the planet. My ACD is hilarious as well.
It is, however, a trait of the breed to be naturally suspicious of strangers, and some ACDs don't like strange noises either. Don't force your ACD to socialize-the breed has no use for that kind of contact, and these dogs are usually one-owner dogs. They bond to and trust one person. Everyone else is suspicious.
The thing about ACDs is, if you try to force them to do something they don't want to do, and it involves being in an uncomfortable place, they may unpleasantly surprise you with their reaction.
Maybe you can find a place for your ACD to feel safe in the house by himself? Give him a chew toy, or any toy really, and play some music in the backround. He really will be much happier.

I'm not sure what you can do between now and Christmas, besides confining her from the company. I also have a cattle dog, and some tend to be fear aggressive, so if she is scared with the company, she may get aggressive.
I think the best thing would be take some obedience and/or agilty classes. But that won't help in 5 days. classes really are the best way to get them socialzed with other people and dogs in a setting where there is someone well trained with dogs.
Agility is also a great way to keep them busy. I love doing it!

haha i have an australian cattle dog, and she is quite a character also. however, these cattle dogs are so intelligent that they are pretty set in their ways, and they have distinct personality traits. my dog is pretty suspicious of other people and will bark incessently at anyone who comes in our house, and we can never let her play with other dogs because she will attack them. i guess that's the dingo in her. when your company comes over, you could have them feed your heeler dog treats so maybe he'll warm up to them.
