Hi there, the problem with the bladder is that the more you empty it, the more it demands to be emptied. You would be best to go to your GP and they can see if it is a water infection, a case for bladder re-training or an overactive bladder or something else. It really is very common so try not to worry x

There are many different things that cause weekness to the bladder:- Urinary Tract Infectioin, Kidney Infection, Age, Being Pregnant, Giving Birth, Damage to the Bladder as a result of a operation, being involved in an accident etc etc.

Based on your height, weight and age your body should be able to hold a specific amount for a specific time. If you have notice a significant change in your bladder the first place to start off is your doctor. As your doctor can test firstly to see if you have any infection and treat appropriately.

However if it is not something as simple as a bladder infection, your doctor can then take the next steps in refering you to a Urologist - a bladder specialist. A Urologist will then perform certain tests to test the muscle capacity of your bladder and rule out any other infections.

In the meantime what you can do is keep a record of exactly what you drink compared to what you release. It is a bit messy doing this but if it is something more serious than a simple bladder information, this is somethin a specialist is going to want to know right away. You will also need to record the times you are drinking and the times you are urinating, again this information will be utilised.

If you were to have something other than a bladder infection, there are several medications available that can help with incontinence. This includes one or two corrective operations as well. You can also try strengthening you pelvic muscles as well by doing pelvic excercises which a physio or doctor can set for you. This may also help with you bladder and strengthen the muscles.

If you are finding you are not making it to the toilet on time and constantly wetting yourself, you can invest in some continenance pads for the time being. As this will save any embarrassing situations. Continenance pads come in a variety of thickness and holding capacity. When choosing the right one for you, ring around and ask for samples, but the main thing is get something that is comfortable for you and has the right holding capacity. You can normally tell this by the water droplets that are listed on the outside of the pads. The higher number of droplets, the better and dryer the pad.

I had a back operation a couple of years ago due to protruding discs, sadly the discs were too damaged the nerves, so over time I lost control of my bladder. I was immediatley sent to a Urologist however he couldnt help me as my nerves were already very damaged and there was nothing medically or surgically that could be done and sadly I now have to wear incontenance items everyday.

I only wish that I had went to the doctor sooner about it, becuase maybe then they could have done something about, but I didnt and have learnt from this. So based on what I have experienced I would recomended that get to a doctor asap and have all possibilities of infection rulled out immediately as even a simple infection can have inreversable problems.

Good Luck

Hi,
I guess you might have an infection going down there, it is called a urinary tract infection. This is a very common condition and the symptoms are frequent urination, pain when urinating and sometimes you may get pain in your back. How long have you experience this symptom?
The treatment is quite easy, if it is mild, drink plenty of water. I know it will make you go to the toilet even more but it really helps to flush the bacteria out of your body.
Usually, it will resolve in 2-3 days without any treatment, if it does not improve then you need to see a doctor.
You can prevent this from happening in the future. Drinking 300mL of cranberry juice every day has been shown to prevent urinary tract infection from occuring.
