Yes. I don't even need to say why. Had he not died so young, who knows how far advanced we could be in martial arts as of now.
Jeet Kune Do is an extremely philosophically deep and sound way of thought. It's no "beat the guy to death with haymakers and soccer kicks".
It was also the original mixed martial arts school of thought. Vale Tudo was not a style, it was an open competition. Matter of fact, MMA schools now are dumbed down version of Jeet Kune Do. Taking only from it the concept of know the other ranges of fighting. It misses out on other crucial disciplines.

SENSEI--'never lasted long enough under any teacher'...Bruce Lee trained under Yip Man in Wing Chun Gung Fu for 5 yrs.
Also won the 1958 boxing championship against 3 time champ Gary Elms by 3rd. ko. Before this match, Lee had 3 straight first round ko's against 3 other boxers.
Had many challenges on movie sets also. One eyewitness was Bob Wall (USPK Karate Champion.) He says one guy on the set (Enter The Dragon) ,who challenged Lee, "Was a dam.ned good martial artist, he was fast, strong and bigger than Bruce."...then describes..."Bruce moved so well, this kid could'nt touch him", Then goes on to say Bruce quickly took him apart. (there were other eyewitness to this bout as well. Also Bob Wall was a respectable and reputable person, and had no reason to lie and make this up. Especially in view of the fact that Bob wall could easily have viewed Lee as a rival in the world of Martial Arts. )
So it's quite obivious, sensei, that Lee had some skills. So instead of trying to bring him completly down, you should give him some due credit, just because he did'nt study one type Martial Art for 20 yrs., but rather studied and took the best from each.
In fact, this is much like today's UFC (MMA) fighter. They cross-train in various arts. For instance-Boxing and wrestling, or some combine boxing, kickboxing and Ju-Jitsu, etc., etc.
So instead of completely disregarding Bruce Lee as a fighter ,Martial Artist, and innovator, he should recieve some due credit, how much, I guess, depends on each person.

No question about it. No one then or now could ever equal what Bruce Lee accomplished in his short life. There has never been another martial artist that has been able to touch and educate as many people as Lee. Just about every single person who studies martial arts know about him and probably would cite Bruce Lee as the inspiration to do martial arts. I am one of them. I have trained in multiple disciplines because I read his books on Jeet Kune Do. There is no way you can talk about martial arts without mentioning Bruce Lee.

You know what we will never know
I will be honest with you I think he is the best he was certainly the wisest martial artist
But he mastered a little bit of everything. And his foundations of fighting are being used till this very day.
He sparred with Joe Louis (not sure bout spelling) And Louis said he was got cut to much.
He sparred with 7 time karate champion Chuck Norris and Norris said he had a hard time just getting near bruce.
He sparred with Dan Inosanto a World Champion and Inosanto said that Bruce was an extremely good fighter
He has so many philosophies about martial arts.
Their are so many more reasons but sadly I cant elloborate

Im a big fan of Bruce Lee I feel he made a major contribution to the martial arts world but greatest martial artist of all time theres no such thing as Bruce would put it thats limiting your self to one style ;)
Edit: I can't believe what I'm reading Bruce Lee was trained by one of the greatest grapplers in the world Gene Lebell. Doesn't know anything? He trained a fighter by the name of Joe Lewis who never lost a fight in his career lol sounds to me ppl don't know the full extent of how lethal this man was

hey kid shut the hell up , and stop offending people who are honestly answering your question.
This is how it goes in my book any way , greatest martial artist of all time is a tie between Bruce Lee and the Gracie family , they both truly revolutionized Martial Arts for their generations.
and yeah Royce Gracie could defeat Bruce Lee , but the question was who is the greatest martial artists of all time , not who is the greatest fighter of all time.

while there is no disputing lee's ability his speed and power were astonishing to say the least to say he was "the greatest martial artist of all time" is wrong (and if he were alive today he would be the first to agree). in true fighting arts tradition it is considered rude to consider yourself to be better than your teacher (in lee's case sifu yip man). also that accolade should be afforded to men of the likes of gichin funakoshi (founder of okinawan karate)-gogen ("the cat") yamaguchi (founder of goju ryu karate) or mas oyama (founder of the powerful kyokushinkai karate). of course we must not forget jigoro kano (founder of judo). and general choi (founder of modern taekwondo). these gentlemen and others not mentioned here helped form the basis to the fighting arts as we know them today-they are the true greats. and a thumbs up to thunderk-i can tell from the nature of the text you are an adolescent-so stop having a go at older and wiser heads and you will go a long way.

bruce lee really wasn't that good compared to rorion, rickson or even royce gracie. lee's only chance against a grappler would be to catch them with a stiff strike when they close into grappling range while the fight's still standing, but once he gets clinched and taken down he's history. this is my prediction as to what a fight between lee and a grappler would look like:

bruce lee's JKD isn't really that great, i mean it just reminds me of a nifty mix of kickboxing and TKD. His grappling range stuff looks cool on film and at demos but when fists are flying wildly and adrenaline is pumping lee's trapping range techniques wont do anything. (i'm not talking blindly, ive studied JKD). So yes, lee contributed a lot to the martial arts but i believe the Gracie's contributions are greater..they truly revolutionized the martial arts through their 'ultimate fighting championship' which has demistified martial arts in america and weeded out the weak/ineffective styles. just imagine a martial arts world with no triangle chokes, no guard, no armbars, rear naked chokes! i mean sheesh who the heck knows what a pak sao or bai jong stance is other than JKD practitioners? it's because BJJ is simply more effective than JKD.

Are you kidding? He's no more than a movie star. There are hundreds if not thousands of martial art masters in all over asia; you guys just don't have the previleage to know them. The Lee guy was just the first on TV, and let me go as far to say he's nothing in real life. I don't mean to disrespect.
