I am not like hugely fat or anything but I got some meat. I do have some meat on me though. Can a big guy like me start martial arts?

Not only can you start, but your size might also be an advantage, and/or give you a certain inclination to certain arts. People are more than likely going to suggest grappling, because if you have a lot of strength, it's something you can excel at.

You can really take any style, but I would personally advocate that you take something like wrestling, where you can strike, but grapple as well.
It's also a good workout as well. There's very few martial arts where there's a size, and/or fitness requirement to begin.

Good luck!

Its from that Repo show on A&E, and it is -fake-. Skepticism is your friend. Martial arts -can- be an equalizer, but it's all about the quality of training. Nothing is a given in this life. You should never walk down a dark alley without fear; if you're teaching this to your students, you and they all need a strong dose of reality. Being a martial artist and training for your personal defense should teach you that you avoid potentially dangerous situations, not seek them out.
