Gentle Breeze, seems to me you might want to go deep into your roots and search for those truths so lovingly, perhaps brutishly, placed before you. There you might find just how harmonious a life with the one true God is and always will be for you.

1) Definition

Grace: Unmerited, unearned favor by the will of God. It is extended to all men who will accept the gift.

That means that God did His part, but we must fulfill our part of the contract which is to OBEY God.

Eph 2:8, 3:7 - It is the gift of God.
John 3:16 - God gave His only begotten Son.
1 Cor 1:4 - It is through Christ.

2) Who will or can receive it?

Mat 7:21 - Those who follow God's will.
Heb 5:8-9 Those who are obedient.

3) What is it about?

Titus 2:11 - It brings salvation.
Rom 15:15 - Given by God.
Rom 5:18 - Christ died that we might have life.
II Cor 9:8 - It is available to all, but we must claim it.
Gal 5:4 - Being saved, doesn't mean always saved. Christians can fall from grace.

Serious answers? I will spare you the Denominational Dogma and skip straight into the hard core facts of the word. In the original Koine Greek writings of the New Testament the word was χαρις (Charis). The English versions translates this into Grace. χαρις (Charis) in the Biblical Greek Lexicon Dictionaries has many different meanings as follows -- "that which affords you joy, pleasure, delight; good will; favor; counted as acceptable; When used in a Biblical sense the Greek Lexicon says this -- "kindness which bestows upon one what he has not deserved". The Lexicon (Dictionary) goes on to say -- " New Testament writers use χαρις pre-eminently of that kindness by which God bestows favors even upon the ill-deserving, and grants to sinners the pardon of their offenses, and bids them eternal salvation through Christ.

You won't get any more accurate answer than this....TRUST ME.

Just reporting it the way Jesus Christ wants me to report it. This "Unmerited Favor" can not be earned through good works either. There is no such thing as "Earned Grace" (not in the Greek tense of the word used).

When I was younger, I was not sure if I understood what my religious teachers said about grace. Honestly, they did not fully satisfy my quest for Truth in the order of things, so I tried to make my own spiritual search and understanding in a cosmic and universal context.

I believe in my heart that God, who is all-knowing, by His nurturing and benevolent love freely showers us all with what is needed in order to realize the purpose of creation. And I believe that it is only when individual souls close themselves from His supportive influence that they cannot be filled by such providence.

God knows what we need, even before we become aware of them. So that, grace for me is actually the life-giving blood of a nurturing Mother-God.

Grace is God reaching out to humankind with love and forgiveness, solely from His benevolence, without any human action to cause, merit, encourage or even seek it. Grace is God's willingness to supply what is lacking in the life of humankind before humankind even realises anything is lacking.

Unmerited Favor from GOD.

2007-12-22 07:11:35 · answer #6 · answered by chapel247 3 · 0 0

unmerited favor. We can not earn it, work for it, nor do anything to bring it about. God bestows His grace or unmerited favor on those whom He chooses, regardless of what we have done or our condition. Even when we were dead in sins, God bestowed His grace on us. He doesn't have to do it, nor does He owe it to us, He does it for His purposes and good pleasure. Bestowing grace upon creatures who are vile and depraved, reveals that side of Him, His grace and mercy, and ultimately, brings Him all the glory.
