No, because Big Brother didn't have any mercy or grace to show people who didn't fall in line with the program and BB didn't have Jesus standing next to him saying "Give them a break, you know how weak they are".

Well, Big Brother never came about in 1984.
However, street cameras have helped nail quite a few criminals.
What about the Pentagon claiming its cameras weren't being used at the precise place the airliner was said to have crashed?

I think maybe you're missing Orwell's point. The only reason "Big Brother is Watching You" is relevent to the plot of the novel is because Big Brother is *not* always watching.
