Islam is just darkness. I don't support any religion which stops its followers from seeking the real truth. You should always have the right to question what is said in the scripture of a religion, because if its really true then why stop people from identifying that truth. No religion is worthy which doesnt give equal rights to both sexes, Islam and Christianity(as it exists today) are not impartial to women. The fact that these scriptures favor men more is enough proof that these are not the words of God but only words of a few powerful men of the time the scriptures were written or unofficially and secretly edited.
Besides, any religion which supports and advises violence should be outright rejected. The festival of Eid Ul Azha in Islam, where animals are slaughtered in the name of religion does not make any sense at all. I put forward my humble request to all Islam followers to ponder that how can something as loving and kind as God rejoice in slaughtering of animals? Please do not sacrifice animals to satisfy your God, it's not needed. God is not like the head of some unenlightened tribal group who would be happy to see animals killed for Him that way, such unthoughtful heartless action would sadden the real God, the creator of the universe

Like any religion, interpretations can vary, making it a very different experience.

I was reading an article on American Islam, and how different it can be. It was mainly interviewing American born Islamic women, and her treatment seemed quite different than what Muslim women experience in other places, or more "conventional" Muslims in the US. Some of the things I was surprised to learn they believed in and practiced in regards to women. They claimed that the Koran actually guarantees women many rights which are often overlooked. Among them: That women are allowed to take a job outside of the home if they wish, but can not be pressured or ordered to by their husband. The woman is entitled to half the husband's income, meaning she gets an equal say in how finances are spent. But the man is not entitled to a portion of her income- that's all hers, to do with as she pleases. They said this was explained as the way things should be in the Koran. Never having read the Koran in it's entirety, I have no idea. Whatever you think of it, it's certainly quite different than what you expect.

I know very little of the Islamic religion and I don't think about it either.

First off I think the attitude towards women is very bad.
Not allowing women to pick their own husbands is cruel.
We cannot love everyone. I was in school with lots of boys.
When I saw my husband I fell in love with him. We have been together almost 50 years. They do not have that option.
That sounds repressive to women.
Does a women truly love a man she is forced to marry?
So it is cruel to men to, they are never really loved.
Is sex without love fulfilling? Is women just a sex object to be used and abused or a real person?
then there is the hate taught to children about other religions.
I think we should have freedom to believe in God the way we want to. How much love of God is in us if it is forced upon us.
Love for someone is not something you can force.
Would God want someone to love him or to say they did because they were forced to?
I wouldn't want my husband to have to marry me because he was forced. If he doesn't love me then leave.
Doesn't most people feel that way?

I read stuff like this in the Qur'an and I have to say that I can't respect anyone who follows a religion which includes such things:

[2:126] "As for him who disbelieveth, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the doom of Fire"

[4:56] Lo! Those who disbelieve Our revelations, We shall expose them to the Fire. As often as their skins are consumed We shall exchange them for fresh skins that they may taste the torment.

8:14 That (is the award), so taste it, and (know) that for disbelievers is the torment of the Fire.

10:4 ...as for those who disbelieve, theirs will be a boiling drink and painful doom because they disbelieved.

17:10 And that those who believe not in the Hereafter, for them We have prepared a painful doom.

18:29 Say: (It is) the truth from the Lord of you (all). Then whosoever will, let him believe, and whosoever will, let him disbelieve. Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers Fire. Its tent encloseth them. If they ask for showers, they will be showered with water like to molten lead which burneth the faces. Calamitous the drink and ill the resting-place!

22:19 These twain (the believers and the disbelievers) are two opponents who contend concerning their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads, Disbelievers will wear garments of fire, boiling fluid will be poured on their heads, their bellies and skin will be melted, they will be tormented with iron hooks, and when they try to escape they will be driven back with the taunt: Taste the doom of burning.
22:20 Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted;
22:21 And for them are hooked rods of iron.
22:22 Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning.

... And so on, and on, and on, and on, ad nauseum. Utterly vile.
