Buying an already built one would be cheaper...but i guess it depends on the area you are looking at. I know since the price of paper and gas are rising so building materials are probably being affected. Plus there are so many empty homes that i'm sure the is someone out there who really wants to unload their home so you could get if for a cheap price.

I will only build new because used homes come with too much baggage and re-work. The used home may look like a bargain but you always have to gut it or re-do it somehow to make it work. We build new because we get what we want how we want it so to us the price is cheaper. If I have to spend over $500,000 for a used home that means I have to spend more to replace someone else's bad taste or outdated decor, I'm better off to spend it on my own build. I've looked at used when we move and inevitably we build. We have built three new homes within the last 13 years in our moves and they have all been fabulous. We aren't done yet. Probably have at least two more new builds before we retire.

It comes from with in, if u have the desire and the knowhow, u can build it they will come. but seriously when u build it u can say u did it. there is alot of work todo, not only u being there allday but making sure things get done, subs show up to work when they say they would, a contractor that u can trust, I say no to building one, only if u got some one who help u with not only building it , but the where to, what if u have problems u didnt plane on bad soil, cost of things go up and your banker says, thats too bad, thats all u get. it would be cheaper to fix one up and get some experiance about doing it ( tobuild a new one ) good luck kirk
