There is an ointment in a green tin canister that is "utter balm." I believe you can buy it in the drug store. My mom swears by it and uses it for most everything, my sister used it for her children when they had diaper rash and I've used it on my sons eczema so I know that it works well on sensitive skin. If you've tried everything then this product is worth a shot.

I am slave to that condition as well. There is no cure. Some people are just dry. I drink a glass of water, little sips, through out the night. And the lip balm right after. I do it in my sleep ( I have visual evidence). Blistex---the medicated tube to take the scruff off, then DCT (daily conditioning treatment spf 20) liberally. I even apply under lipstick. It's not a problem for me any longer. I have fun trying different lip balms. Some run as high as $20 and there are so many flavors to choose from. So many beautiful containers. She'll never get tired of them. Check out Sephora.com for some really fancy one's, but plain blistex will run you $1. Good luck!

Is she drinking plenty of fluid? Sometimes dry lips can occur secondary to dehydration. And by fluid, I mean WATER not soda or juice which have tons of sugar. Straight Vaseline sometimes applied to the lips at night, or during the day even can help keep some of the moisture in.
If you have tried these things perhaps a visit to the dermatologist is in store. They have all the answers about most skin issues, and dry lips seems pretty basic. Good luck!

If it is that severe she needs to see a doctor to rule out a skin disorder of some kind. UNtil then, try Vaseline. Many lip balms actually dry out the lips, making the problem worse. The gold standard is Vaseline, which is also really cheap. Valesine seals in moisture without taking anything away.

I don't know your daughter's age so I am going to assume that she is very young.
Does she drool? I wonder if she might have thrush or an ENT infection that might be causing her to drool. If it is thrush, that could be the cause of the chapped lips.
Blistex medicated ointment works great for most dry lips. However, you might want to have the doctor take a look at that the next time she's in.

What's the doctor's input? If it's associated with dehydration (too much salt, not enough water) she may need a check up to make sure it's not associated with a different problem.

Have you taken her to see the doctor? Maybe she needs something stronger than over the counter. PLUS, this can be a sign of dehydration, is she getting enough fluids daily?

The best that I have found, without a perscription, is Carmex. If that doesnt work, try going to the doctors for a perscription.
