this lady, from a class said once that drugs that make you up, just make people with ADD mellow
i still think that's far fetched

but I remember one of my friend's was just crazy
he was wicked funny and just wild
and one day I saw him in school and he was just sitting there all calm and reading a book which was bizarre
and he almost seemed depressed
he just mumbled that he had to take his meds
and
I know it was adderall, or i assume ritalin is the same?
but
he also did a lot of drugs, but he was never into stuff with that derivitive, like E, or meth

so, I was thinking
if meth is such an insanely addictive drug
maybe there is some biological mechanism in people with ADD that could be adjusted or created to treat such an addiction??

seems possible

Interesting question, so it had me searching and suprisingly, yes, it is used when other medication does not work.

Methamphetamine is used medically under the brand name Desoxyn for the following conditions:

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder;
Extreme obesity;
Narcolepsy

People like that lady ought to zip their lip because they don't know what they're talking about and what impressionable person they're speaking with!

Meth is a term used for Methamphetamine which is a fairly dangerous and addictive drug. No physician or psychiatrist would ever prescribe it in that form for ADD. There are, however, medications like Desoxyn (d-Methamphetamine and not often used), Adderall and Ritalin as well as others that have Meth in them but are not pure Methamphetamine. In its purest form it's a very potent high. Anything with Meth in it would be designed for a person with ADD to be able to focus and concentrate since that is one of the main symptoms. Hyperactivity is another! I cannot imagine a person who is in a hyper state taking straight Methamphetamine...it's scary.

I don't know but my daughter has ADD and there is no way that I would give her meth to calm her down. That is nothing but poisons and I've seen some people on it and they lost all of their teeth and had soars all over their body and it was not a pretty sight to see. I would just deal with her bouncing off the walls before I did something like that.

Hi!
I have ADD and do take concerta, which has meth in it and it does help me especially with my temper. I am always amazed at ANYONE wanting to take a drug for the pure enjoyment of taking it! I know that I have to take it, and I know that it helps me to focus, but if I did not have to take it, I would not!
