I recently purchased a black furniture set including bed frame, computer desk, shelves and night stand. I am going for a mature, calm look. Nothing too colourful or crazy. I was thinking a calm tone of green. Help please!

Black is a neutral color so anything goes but if you are looking for calm, sage colors of green work really well with just about anything. We painted our entire last house in three colors of sage and it was very calming and made everything we had pop against it. It was a huge selling point for our home.

You could do a muted green if you'd prefer, but I tend to think greens work better with more natural browns rather than all black.

Other colors:

gold/ochre
khaki/tan
lilac
cream
tinted whites (soft greys)

Try a rust or bronze with Burgundy accent.
