In addition to being marketed as the Vanguard by Weatherby, the M-1500 used to be distributed by Mossberg under their brand.

A former co-worker has one in .30-'06 and he wouldn't swap it for anything else. I know, I tried to trade him out of it often enough.

A darned good rifle.

Howa Rifles are manufactured in Japan and distributed by a company called Interarms, located years ago in Alexandria ,Virginia. They are now distributed solely by Legacy Sports International in Reno,Nevada. The Howa 1500 is an excellent "Out of the box" Bolt Action rifle. I have one myself in .223 caliber with a Heavy Varmint Barrel. The 1500 is a quality firearm with great metal to wood fit, and very accurate. You won't be disappointed...

Sorry Tango. The Weatherby Vanguard and the Howa 1500 are two completely different rifles......

This is the company that manufactures the Weatherby vanguard rifles. the weatherby vanguard and the howa m1500 are the same rifle. These are manufactured in Japan and recieve some high praise form many people in the shooting world. I myself have never owned or shot one so I can not say for sure how good they shoot.

I purchased 1 of those last year, but didn't get to hunt with it, till about 3 months ago. Have been shooting wild hogs with it, with great success.
Thus far, have bagged 23 hogs ( in the 75 - 200 # range) with it, up to 300 yards distance. it is very accurate. Most of the hogs, i gave to a home for children ( 15 kids ).
I don't hunt for trophy's, so all of my kills, were head shots & as yet, it has been 1 shot, 1 hog. Hope my luck keeps going.

good hunting
