Good question. I worked in a sushi/japanese restaurant, but it was also a hip young bar, so it was accepted....

however, a traditional japanese restaurant.. yes, it is. but it's not like you're foresaking their traditions.

My rule of thumb is when there's a bar with a bartender making drinks and not fish... it's okay to do a sake bomb.

yes, maybe you have never really seen the true destruction caused in japan during the war. you probably would not have to ask the question if you had. not that it was not needed, but the human suffering was devestating.

If the restuarant offers it , then no
but if you go out of your way to order it, then yes, I think its rude.

no. who would be stupid enough to think it is.
they all want you to do sake bombs and get drunk.
know how much they make off of liquor?

If you make too much noise or are not dignified, then it's rude. Always maintain proper 'wa,' or poise.
